Kathleen, I got this warning too. I did what the instructions said and found the file...and deleted it. The next day I got an e-mail saying the whole thing is a hoax. Now I'm wondering if I deleted something important? Here is the letter I got

Please read this before you do anything else. The Sulfnbk virus scare is a HOAX. The file is there but it is not a virus. I am giving you a link below to the McAfee (I am sure you have heard of McAfee Viruscan) virus Hoax center. I always check this when I get a warning such as this as I have had many before. Please read the information on this website before you send out any more warnings.

This file is actually a Windows utility. The below passage is from the Norton Antivirus site.

"CAUTION: This particular email message is a hoax. The file that is mentioned in the hoax, however, Sulfnbk.exe, is a Microsoft Windows utility that is used to restore long file names, and like any .exe file, it can be infected by a virus that targets .exe files."

Here is a link to the information on the Norton Antivirus Hoax site.

OH SH*&%^$(*&^%$#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why do people do this????????

The main problem is, Do Not Forward These Warnings to your entire address book!

Innocent folks follow the directions, and delete files on their computer, and it causes them all kinds of problems.

Some say that these hoaxes are more dangerous than actual virii themselves. PLEASE - DO NOT FORWARD THEM ANYMORE!!!
