Yeah!!!!

Oh Root....blow the IRS off and enjoy your accomplishments!!!

Brinda :)

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Ahh, Root, that sucks. Even though they just found the error, they are still gonna charge all that interest. That is really a bummer.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

All right!! You deserve it. As for the IRS, by the time they receive your check, you will owe them more, so send a little extra or they will hound you to death. It happened to us one time when we forgot to add the interest from one lousy savings bond we cashed. Took forever to get it all straightened out. The only thing that did straighten it out was that Jim estimated what it would be by the time they received our check and added $15 to the total. What a pain.

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Hey, somethin good did happen to ya. Congrats on yard of the month. What an honor. I'm happy for you on that.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks all!best part of the day is getting to get on here with Ya'll!
Shirley they did send a sheet of how they did the interest,so I can do like Jim and beat them to the punch,I do not want to play the game with them.

Funny part is,I was talking with my neighbor,I have only mowed 5 times this year, and we have the only green grass, maybe that is it,they did not want to put the sign in a brown yard,LOL,seems that is all there is here.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

wow root! Congrats!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Congrats Root!!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks Gals,I'll take a picture tomorrow of across the street,so you can get a good laugh!
They wanted to get my picture today for the paper, but I still had my mail in my hand, did not think I could smile,so I told them come back tomorrow,I bet most folks are happy to get this honor, they had to scratch thier heads at me,I asked if they had the right house?LOL!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

That is an honor! Good work root.
Too bad about the IRS, I always think it will happen to me....it is not fair they charge you interest until they discover the error. Me thinks they hold it as long as they can to get a few more bucks. Can't they only go back 5 years? They jump in at the end instead of 1999 so you not not owe so much. NOw, did that make any sense?

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

congrat on getting yard of the month.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Root, I can relate to your IRS dilemma - a similar situation happened to me when I worked for Farmer's Insurance. My boss turned in a 1099 for self-employed, when HE should have been paying taxes on my salary. It ended up costing me about $1,000 in interest by the time the IRS "caught up with me".

Congratulations on your honor of Yard Of The Month!!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Nice picture!

Not that IRS strikinng AGAIN!!! They'll kill us all yet, then who can they tax??

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

Contracts on yard of the month, Root!

Sorry to hear of your IRS troubles. Been there, done that. It is a bummer. We couldn't afford to pay the full amount, so we got them to allow us to make installments on the balance due. For the last payment, we called and asked them how much would be owed 7 days from the day we called them (I figured that's the longest it would take to get there via regular mail). They calculated it and that's the amount we sent them. They tried calling back to say they miscalculated and we should have sent them more, but I stood my ground. I had the agent's name I spoke with and the amount and everything, and also pointed out that my check cleared after only 6 days, so we should be square. They let it slide. It may depend on your approach and the agent you are dealing with as to whether or not they give you any leeway. Respectful but firm has always worked for me. Don't let them bully you around. Many of the people you deal with have little or no actual authority and will use their employer to strike the fear of God in you--just keep in mind there are agents who CAN take away all your rights and make your life miserable. Good luck resolving it.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Whoa, I think the IRS told me once they only went back 3 years from the last filing year 2002 - 3 = 1999.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Plantnutz,I thought so too, that was why it was kinda shocking.
Butterfly,I figure, there goes my play money till spring,lOL!All ya can do is laugh, when I send it,I will make sure they need to send me a check!(Like they will)

Anyway,we all have our Ups and Downs,I want you all to feel free here,as with any of my threads, post some up and downs!

Just always end on an Up!

I told you,I would show you My Hood, here is right across the road, the house on the right is an old Meth house that burned, they refurbished it and are trying to sell it,house in middle is a friend,he is a laborer from Mexico, house on left is Vince.(he is drooling over my sign,LOL!)
House in middle has a dead tree,it died during our ice storm a couple years ago, they never got it all the way down.

Congrats Root! You deserve that honor! Just too bad that is isn't your view, instead of your neighbors, lol!

As for the IRS--just remember that someone always has a worse story than you! They once sent me a bill for $48,000.00, no joke, took 4 years of them making my life miserable with worry, before they admitted their mistake! Would you believe they even apologized? Wish I would have had that letter bronzed for the whole USA to see ):

BTW...friends are free!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

This one kinda shocked me.

Hey Vi.no matter what the day is like, coming here,is always the Best part! You guys and gals make the Day!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't have enough time to post all of the downs....that would be about 60 brugs that aren't blooming yet and if the frost show early, I won't see them bloom at all. The grasshoppers are to quick for me to get a picture, and they are mating like crazy. Killed another white fuzzy worm heading for a brug this afternoon..............but for a high.....I've lost 11 pounds in the last 16 days and dug a 5 gallon bucket and another half bucket of sweet potatoes today. Early for digging, but we don't like them the size of softballs.

Edited to say that this evening, I was in the garage and saw a snake. It wiggled into one of those three sided priority boxes that was laying on the floor and I had the courage to pick the box up and take it outside and let it go. I don't normally do those kinds of things....so if you hear a loud scream tonight when you all are sleeping, it is me having bad dreams about that little snake. It was only a garter snake, but a snake is a snake in my book.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Sounds like time for sweetpatata pie!I tried to call you tonight, forgot you had the dialup!I have a book for Jim.

My double white is going to the great beyond. Just not one of my favorites. I'd not hesitate to spend some time in that back yard. Looks so nice and tropical out there.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

I do the same root. Have to get out there every evening and inspect and enjoy. I have a few brugs that are totally eaten by something but some that have just yed at about 12 ft tall. What an amazing year here.

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

Way to go Root, on your yard. Don't let the IRS bring you down. You just keep making everything look better with you plants and advice. Your accomplishment here out weigh anything that the IRS will try to take away from you.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I agree Clayton!Give me some pics of your ups and downs,we all have them in the garden, that is the only pic that I have shown of my backyard,I had plans for my play money, dang IRS,LOL!
They are just a stumbling block for now.I have already mentally put it behind me,remember the Root is never down long!
Root.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Root....

Cool, congrats on your Forum Photo of the Day!!!! Talk about an 'up'!!! Hope you're enjoying your yard...it looks great!

Sorry bout the IRS....this too shall pass.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Did the town see your back yard before they gave you that award?? It looks so fantastic! Great job.

The sad part is you can't do anything back to the IRS. They hold all the power.

I find the cats love to dine on Maya. I little Bt and poof, they are gone!

tomorrow I shall look for a downer in the yard........ just to make you happy, Root!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Root, are those marbles I see behind your cyclamen? Did you lose them.....?

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Your yard is beautiful and you deserve the notice. As for the IRS, I have had 2 rounds with them. Here is some advice. Under the current administration, taxes are loathed and friendlier treatment by the IRS is policy. I would call my representative in Washington and tell him it was a small error and if they weren't so inefficient at the IRS, the interest would have been for 1 year, not 5 years. Usually you can get action that way; it's not worth your time to diddle with the IRS.....

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

My DH hates the IRS with a passion and swears it is not constitutional and they really don't want that fact to be known. He knows of several cases wherein the person being persecuted challanged the constitutionality of the IRS and the IRS backed off rather quickly. Don't know if you want to try this or not.
Congratulations on the honor of being selected Yard of the Month. It takes a lot of work and dedication to achieve that kind of yard. I feel sorry for your neighbors with such sorry looking yards. Ours is sort of a mix of the 2.

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL, NoH2O! That's what I thought I saw, too!

Root, it looks like your cyclamen is naked without any leaves. Never seen anything like that!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL!Yes those are my Marbles!!!!
I find them all over here, every time I till, some are pretty old,I have a rock I put them on.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Root: You should try a flat rock!! Might get to keep some marbles. Your yard is lovely, Congrats. Now put on the blonde wig, go and talk to the IRS, they'll be happy to see you go--might give you the $98. Godd Luck. Dawn
