I've read a little about "scooping" out the bottom of the bulb, and "scoring" (making cuts) on the bulb, Is it done before fall planting, or in spring after the bloom and foliage has died back? Any advice on how to do this and when would be appreciated.

I know nothing about it myself, but was intrigued. It's amazing what you can find with Google.

Gee thanks, Agrinerd! I'm a "newbie" at computers, too. I searched under "hyacinth" but didn't find the info I needed.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to try all of the methods listed and see which works the best.
