I forgot I took some pics this evening...
Banana people, have a question...
sniff....sigh.........
LOL CC I feel your pain!
Keep em coming weeds,we can take it!
Good picture, Weeds. looks like you are mighty handy with that camera!
weeds, be on your guard a little. If the bloom gets broken off that is all the length you will get out of your nanas.
I grow them in the PI & the flower was a delicacy (sp). I threatened every housegirl, yardboy, & the rest of their kin & friends, not to take my bloom.
Every petal that comes up will create another row for your stalk of nanas.
Great fun to watch & grow. Congrats!!!
Good to know, thanks Smokette. It seems to be going great guns. 3 bunches and still quite a bloom there. It is just beautiful and fun to watch whether I get nanas or not.
The reason I mentioned it, is I saw the vehicle between the leaves!
:~)
Roz, good camera, not me.
Smockette, that is my car, I am not sure what you are saying, oh, maybe I know.
Weeds what are the plants with the strongly veined
leaves growing next to your Banana?
Loquat trees, not very big yet.
Doing the naner dance for you down here Weeds! Looks like TS Henri is heading up more your way. We surely don't need the rains here right now with all the flooding already. Half of Kissimmee is drowned (for those unfamiliar with FL, that's immediately to the east of Disneyworld/Epcot/MGM Studios/Animal Kingom). You surely don't need the winds to mess up your naner trees, either! Here's hoping...
Oh Yikes, that would be a pain but you know what, it comes with the territory.
Kiss-a-me, I mean ka-sim-me, has grown so much! Use to be a sleepy little town, yes?
LOL,John! That hurt my head when I read it!
Are you going to home for awhile?
John! We are gonna miss you....and that does sound disgusting. Tell you what, just keep me one for the Fl swap this spring. I can wait and still not able to plant anything so that will be fine to get it later. I wanted to meet your doggies.
Connie, in the Phil., we call that the banana heart --> where the banana is emitting from. be sure to watch the heart, soon as the u notice smallish banana are appearing, and no more banana fruit appear. u need to severe the heart or the bananas will never grow for u. just a thought.
see ur photo Sept.4,12:18 posting... the purplish looking thingy is the banana heart.
I'm heading to Kroger to get some nanas and tape. I want nanas on my tree. Connie that is so cool. Are you going to bring banana pudding to the roundup? Be good to see you again.
:) You did it!!!! :)
Congratulations Weed! Nice looking nannas.
Who is the nice looking young man helping your mom?
Hi Nat! How are you doing and did you have a nice Christmas?? That is my son who is home from Portland for the Holidays....what a treat for us to have him here. I have had to learn to cook again!
Weeds, I thought that might be your son. I am sure that it was wonderful to have him home for a while. He looks like he's handy in the garden like his mom and grandma.
Yes, we had a nice Christmas. And I too, learned to cook again. DH fell in love with me all over again when I made a pecan chocolate chip pie for him! LOL
Are you all sick of hearing me whine yet?
I want nanas
I'd be happy with a bud.......
sniff,snivel...whine.....
Congrats!
CC, Just come down here to visit and you won't have to whine!
Hi Weeds. Your son and Virginia look great; looks like you all had a good holiday! I cut some of my nanas back, and was surprised that there was a bloom in the middle of a large patch that I did not even know about, but the frost got it before it opened good. Keep your fingers crossed that my abyssian banana makes it through the winter. Wish now I would have dug it up, but it is just really big. It is a pretty one, red at the bottom and on the tips of the leaves.
