Blue Porterweed (Stachytarpheta Cayennensis)

Waco, TX(Zone 8b)

I have a couple of Blue Porterweed (Stachytarpheta cayennensis) in my flower bed. Which way is easier to propagate by seeds or is the seeds sterile which I was told they probably are, or buy cuttings and how and where to cut.

I've had the blue porterweed reseed in the garden, so some of the seeds are good. I've rooted tip cuttings, not too tender and without a flower if you can find one. I used vermiculite to root them in and used a liquid rooting hormone.

Thanks Calalily, I will try some tip cutting. I like the plants they are so green and the blue flowers just pop out at you against the rest of the plant.

Have you seen the dwarf red one? I had one last year, but didn't bring it in before frost and it didn't like the frost one little bit and died.
