That's okay. Things are busy here too. I need to dig cannas and tear out the annuals, but I'm just enjoying these last warm days we are having by sitting on the deck and resting up for the work.

Do you have any seeds left? Please email me

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Do you happen to have a link with more info on these seeds? I want to know all about them, thanks so much!!
Laurrie

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I personally don't know much about them other than they really bloom a lot and I can tell you that they have strange looking stems. If I can find a picture, I'll add it here. There might be some information on an old MG co-op thread that sbarr started. Okay, I found a picture where you can see the vines a bit. Don't ask me why they call them red because they sure aren't.

WOW! Those are awesome! Did you get my SASE yet? I just caught someone trying to unroll one of my white moonflowers! I was like, "Hello! They open at night, you are welcome to some seeds when they are ready! " They are on my mailbox. I might be a little peeved if they mess with these! Just kidding, but really, unrolling someone's flowers? Why not just look and maybe ask? I will plant these closer to the house! LOL They are gorgeous!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Jenks, I've mailed out every SASE that I've received. I hope yours was one of them. It is impossible for me to know on some of them without having the Daves user name on the envelope too. In some cases I was unable to email to say that I had received the envelope, so if yours was one of them, it should be on its way back to you. I'd kick some rear if I caught someone messing with my flowers that way. It was a learning experience for them though. Let me know if you get the seeds or if not.

Dear Brugie -

Thank you again!
Will post a pic soon - the vines just started flowering

Morristown, NJ(Zone 6a)

Moda, let me be the first one in the begging line for seeds, if you 'have' some. Meaning, I hope you get seeds.
I just bought my first home on 2 acres & would sure like some of these pretties to grow @ my house.
Please, please, please.
:~)

Morristown, NJ(Zone 6a)

Smockette - I will keep in touch with you!
These plants are annuals here for me in my zone - they maybe hardy in your zone 8 - in the fall, around October, I can mail you the whole plant, since its just going to wither away here.
Good Luck in your new home!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

The second batch of seeds that you were kind enough to send me after I lost the first ones, are doing well and growing fast.

I saw some buds on the vine last night and am getting very excited about seeing the blooms.

I know lots of folks also have the white moonflower vine, but here in Mich. we have a moonflower plant, that comes back every year (reseeds itself I think although I am not sure how for sure) and is really quite lovely)

Does anyone else grow these or should I be saving the seeds this fall? The plants get 2 to 3 feet tall and start flowering in the middle of August and usually last until frost. I have been surprised in all of the reading about moonflowers not to have this one mentioned as I thought it was very common.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread Brugie! Hope you don't mind!

Mine are blooming too, for about a month now.. I will have seeds..A lot promised out to friends and family.. Everybody that see's them wants one..

Alice dear, what you have is Datura, could be "evening fragrance" does it have a scent to it? Yours looks identical to what I started out with many moons ago. They actually form a golf sized ball with thorns sticking out on it, they dry and split and drop seeds, that is how they manage to come back for you in your zone each year! If you want to save the seeds just watch for them after the flower fades, when the pod turns brown and very prickley and nearly ready to split or just about split open, wear some gloves and what I do is snip the pod off right into a baggie, if you let some go they will continue to reseed for you each year as they have done.
Laurrie
(sorry for hi-jacking the thread here too :)

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

aknapp, I would love some seeds from that one. A friend of mine has it in her garden and she calls it "moonflower" too. I told her it was a datura and she was totally unfamiliar (she's a day lily hybridizer.)

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

lhughes
you are welcome to some seeds. Mine don't bloom until late in August, but I will gladly save you seeds.

Just send me a note and remind me.
Alice

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I forgot about planting these seeds, they have been blooming for a while and I kept thinking "what kind of morning glory has those weird things on the stems?" lol. If someone got left out for seeds, I just picked about 5 pods(4 seeds per pod).

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Calalily, if you have a pod to spare, I will take one. I'm trying to get only small qty of seed so @ least one will survive.
:~)

Pennsburg, PA(Zone 6a)

Calalilly,
I would love to have a few seeds if you can spare them.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I have seeds, need your addys. I thought there were 4 in each pod, but there are only three. I picked another pod tonight. I also found a bird nest in the vine!
