Last year I gave my neighbors an Empress/Royal Paulownia 3 foot tree. I had it for 2 years in a gallon can and no place for it. When I gave it to them I told them to please not plant it by the our common fence for it would grow up to tall and shade my yard.
And the other day I looked up and I could not believe what had sprouted up above all my trees in just 1 year! See that 2 stem tree in the V between the brug and the oleander?
So do you think it is going to grow enough to tower over my fence and yard. Woe is me.
So am I in big trouble here?
Kell, i do not know the answer to ur question. funny, u sure take interesting photo. do not click on the photo. take a close look. the tree on the right sure look like a gorilla face LOL!!!
I'm very impressed with your plants Kell-sorry to hear about the tree-we've had yards with immense populars
growing and shading our yard, it does make one ill!
MaVieRose that's exactly what it looks like!!
ok Kell, it is not my imagination this time. the photo is to obvious LOL! i mean on the thumbnail, not the big one.
thanks Lilypon for the confirmation :)!
LOL. Ma Vie, but I do not see it! Is it in the green trees? The top green one is a kumquat tree and the lower part is the orange sang. Then there is a huge purple bougainvillea on the far right side.
Thanks Lilypon, and to think I gave it to them. What were they thinking??? What was I thinking??? They have a huge empty back yard. I have a cluttered little one! They could have put it far away!!!
Murphy's Law and forgetful neighbors!?!
Kell it's the mainly green one-the protrusion above the
eyes, the nose, even the chin! You must not have studied
cloud formations as a kid!
It is a combination of the mainly green trees on the
right hand side of the pic!

I will look again later. LOL. I do not see it.
I was looking so hard at the intruder I didn't notice how the rest looks so drab. The flower peak is about over. Here is a shot I took a couple of weeks ago. The bougainvillea is growing up thru a pittosporum tree I planted 30 years ago. I planted the bougainvillea soon after. Over the years the bougainvillea grew up thru the pittosporum so in the summer you just see the bougainvillea and in the winter when the bougainvillea drops its leaves, you just see the pittosporum tree. I was so clever and didn't even man to be!!
In that little corner I also have a lemon bush, see on the bottom left, a red oleander and see the kumquat the top is in the top left corner and then there is shoot shooting out in the middle down below.
edited to add that there is a wisteria in the lower right corner that looks small but it actually is a 6 foot standard in training!

I rarely see a pic that takes my breath away-but that
one is a winner!!
Thanks Lilypon! The bougainvillea is spectacular when in full bloom which is most of the summer. Since I have a small yard, it is the survival of the fittest here! I try to cram a little of everything in but practically everything must bloom to keep its place!
The orange sang in the first picture is going to be removed in the fall. Sadly. I loved its orange blooms against the other colors. It just gets too huge and it is too messy. And I am too old. I may put in a crape myrtle tree. Maybe a true dark purple one. I just planted 4 crape myrtles on the far side of the yard today. My brain seems to be stopping and repeating itself at crape myrtle! LOL
Yep MVR,big ole green gorilla sniffin the Brug!
LOL... don't know why Kell can't see it. hehehehe
MaVie, I see it too.
Kell, your yard is so beautiful.
Thanks Susie. It has its little vignettes!
I even have been squinting! Is he looking straight on?
yeah Cala. i guess the 'gorilla' formation is created by Mother Nature to keep a close watch on Kell's garden while she is gone to ward off brug or plant thieves off her yard :).
Kell, your old Paulowania will easily sprout above all your other trees and tower over your yard... and worse yet, may drop its fragile branches into your yard everytime the wind blows (here in So Cal the only reason these trees don't get super tall is the wind keeps 'trimming' them- they have incredibly brittle wood). I planted a 2' tree and in 4 years it was the tallest tree in the yard (taller than my 30 year old ash tree, too)- about 40'). Since we planted it in a very low spot, it was still protected from the wind and grew tall like a poplar..but now it's in the wind path and branches are starting to fall. OUCH.
Kell, it is the whole green tree on the right and it is like a silhouette looking to the left.
Beautiful pictures of your pretty garden areas Kell. I saw what looked like a gorilla image right away.
ROTFL.........you sure do have a way to see things in photos MaVie. I only saw it after you mentioned it
Susan... Kell always tells me i have wild imagination. perhaps i do, as i look around everywhere, i do 'see' images that others don't normally see, till i point it out to them. i see images on cloud formation, sometimes after a strong wind blows, i see images formed in the sand. sometimes it is scary specially at night, looking at different tree forms in the dark. other times, i would see them on stucco wall. it's just me :). what i see is not wild imagination but the formation of images that is etched by nature or man made in wall from paints, stucco or even cement. not wild imagination cause others can see it too :), after i point it to them.
Kell,It's like one of those 3d pictures, you have to blur your vision,LOL!
Kell, beautiful--very beautiful.
LOL Root!
Kell, you've been hiding all these treasures, so lovely!
I vote for a pan of kell's yard, anybody with me here?
LOL Root! Well Brugie's desciption did it. I see him now! LOL. Good find Ma Vie! The sang is his mouth and chin!
My yard is so off balance. I planted flowering trees all along the back so I have the feeling of privacy! It is too small for all those trees but hey.......... it makes me happy! Not neat and orderly like yours Barb. Or as well planned. Kind of like see, want, get, stick in where there is an inch of dirt exposed!
am so glad u see it now Kell :)!
Kell, what are you talking about--my garden neat and orderly??? LOL I just plant and plant. I told you my gardening theory--If you have weeds, you don't have enough plant.
I love the your use of colors.
LOL Barb, it is any and all!
Wow, I see it too! What a picture. Those trees are real nice, Kell, very pretty yard.
Kell, you are making me have itchy feet. I would love a trip down again to your area. I love all the color in the big shrubbery. I am just going to have to try bougainvillea even if I have to keep it in a pot. I have tried transplanting baby Empress trees a couple of times from a neighbor, never have got one going yet. Then Dave sent me seeds and they germinated fantastic but that early frost last October gottem. BTW, if I come do I get a tour?
