She'll love that one Susie!! Make her take that big 20gallon pot back on the plane and you go and take pictures so we'll all get a good laugh.
I wish I knew she wanted a GL. I got a wild hair a few days ago and just went out to a brug bed and started pulling out some that I no longer wanted to grow for one reason or another and GL was one of them. It along with about 5 others just got pulled out and sent to the compost pile to make room for some other plants that needed a home.
Golden Lady
DAVID, I would have driven there to get it! Of course, I would have had to get rid of something to find it a space in the yard. It's going to be tough this fall to decide what can and cannot fit into my little gh.
Linda,
Frannie blessed me for throwing it out! I know people would have loved to have had the plant but with the problem I had with the brugs earelier this year,I decided tht just destroying any unwanted ones would be much easier and save me from being attacked again later on if and when someone saw spots on a cutting I may have sent to them
I do understand your position. I still have quite a few that you sent to me early last year and have not had a problem with any of them (other than the mites or whatever is giving everything a fit). I hesitate to give cuttings or plants to anyone for that very reason.
Hey Susie, don't tempt me with that 20 GL and bringing it back on the plane with me. You know me......where there is a will, there is a way.......lol
And David I can't believe you composted GL. You know that I would never attack you. . . friends don't do that to each other. When friends throw away good brugs.....well....that might call for a few choice words....lol
Oh-Oh...I think I am beginning to LOVE this one even more than my long-time favorite-Species. So many flowers and buds and such a strong structure too !! Can't ask for much more in a brug :)
This is my first time growing GL and frankly, I messed up on the labels. Imagine the surprise to see this beautiful blossom on a brug that was labeled Aurea Pink??? What a pleasant surprise !
It is amazing to see how her color differs in different areas. No matter..she is beautiful in any color. Thanks everyone for sharing your pics.
mine is still a long way from blooming.. wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I was a bit confused too when I saw the date... I thought, it's not August 1st yet?!? ... and then I saw the year... duh! But I'm glad this thread was resurrected - I hadn't seen Golden Lady before. It's beautiful! I don't like most doubles because the ones I've seen don't have many flowers or good bloom form, but GL looks great!
She is a really good bloomer here Tom, I bet you would like her, just blooms and blooms. Mine was never with out blooms until the farmer behind me hit her with a chemical!
Thanks for the info, Tracey. I'm glad to hear this one is a consistent bloomer... yet another to add to my wish list. I'm sorry to hear about your GL :-(. I sure hope you have a backup plant! Do you think your GL will recover or is it toast? BTW, even those of us with small yards in the suburbs have to contend with fallout from adjacent property - my neighbor's lawn service sprayed something this spring that drifted over in my yard and partially defoliated a butterfly bush and rugosa rose I have on that side. Fortunately it missed the brugs.
What did you hit the farmer back with, Tracey?
Golden Lady was one of the cuttings that Brugie sent me last fall, she's growing well but hasn't bloomed yet. From what I'm reading here, I may scoot her out away from the crowd to get a little bit more sun, since so many have said that she likes it. Thanks again, Shirley!
You're welcome Ronna. She is a great bloomer for me and I love her fragrance. Bugs don't seem to bother her here either.
