Rosamond x L'Amour

Brugie, I dipped all of these in the 10% bleach solution and dried them in the sun. I read that the faster they dry, the less chance of a fungus growing on their hull so thought I'd give it a try. After drying they are put in the manilla envelopes you get at the office supply stores. I just got one of those 5 shelf rubbermaid thingies on wheels to keep my seeds in. I've given out hundreds of seeds and still have more. I have a seed obsession! I can't wait to start planting them.

This year I have decided that I enjoy growing seedlings more than cuttings. I can't wait for next year to grow out more seeds. I'm cutting back on some of the larger brugs I have to make room for the babies. I'll sure try the bleach solution and hopefully that will help alot. I'm also going to try the baggie method of germinating. Thanks for the info...

Brugie, I killed my whole first crop of seeds, none germinated out of tons!!! I did do them early and I seemed to have some fungus gnats but still they should have at least germinated. And I had some very special seeds so it kille dme to fail. Then Susie did some experiments with us that she set up and I had the best luck with germination. I am sold on it!

But Kell, I don't have a station wagon.....will it still work? LOL!!

Thank you, for all the nice comments. Susie did a wonderful job!
All these were sown the last part of Feb. I started getting blooms in June, the fertilizer is all I can come up with for the early showing. Some of the seedlings are 10' tall, until yesterday they were all in 3 gallon pots! After storms Friday night and once again finding them on the floor, I am repotting the ones I know for sure are worth growing on another season. There have been so many nice plants, that can't see any since in keeping look alikes. I don't have the room! There is one that I will post later, it is a pure white "L'Amour" looking bloom! If everyone loves it as much as I do, and with Susie's permisson, I will keep it and name it "Young Love". There is also, a very small 3/12' pure white, little bloom, I want to grow out one more season. Perhaps another patio plant!
Susie no spidermites at the greenhouse, and the ones here at the house are toast, but the plants are recovering very nicely from the damage.
Gloria, I am hoping to here this week! The last time I talked with the bank they were very positive! This is driving me a litlle nuts though, I think I have gained about 10 pounds!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Tracey, that one is really a beaut. Cannot wait til my seeds come up. You have just done remarkable. Is that a pic of your nursury in the background of the flowers? Sure looks nice.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Tracey, can you post another picture of this one? I'd like to see it up close and personal with lots of blooms open. Bet that will be a gorgeous plant covered with blooms.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I can't picture it with lots of blooms since they are upright! How will they fit?

Roz and I still don't have a L'Amour so if some kind person out there would like to donate one the the poor girl of South Miss we'll be more then happy to take it off your hands. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Tracey, what's this about a nursery? I didn't know you were thinking of buying a nursery!!! I'm sooooo jelous! I hope it works out for you. If all your plants do as well as these brugs you'll be a rich girl ;)

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

If you have cuttings, I would LOVE to take some off your hands. Good luck with the nursery venture, that has always been my dream.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

this one is gorgeous too, is it a good bloomer?

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

I have been wanting L'amour for forever, it seems. Have heard it is harder to propagate, but I am patient!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

It seems to be blooming just like L'Amour but it does seem to have a better system of lenticils. I will try it out in some vermiculite to see how well it roots. It smells like old-fashioned honeysuckle.... Everyone at the greenhouse wants to be a hummimngbird for five minutes. The smell last all morning long into the afternoon, I watered at 1pm today and the smell was still very strong. The foliage is just awesome, rich green thick leaved, and doesn't take no mess of any bug! Just a hint of fuzz.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Are the nursery customers going crazy trying to buy your brugs Tracey? Remember the trouble Susie had with sneaky customers......so be careful!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

What more could one ask for in a brug than to be beautiful, unique and to smell so good even mid-day. Oh and I forgot the gorgeous leaves. WOW!! Gotta love it!!

A bug resistant leaf, now that's something!
