The many faces of Gingers

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

This is why I love them so much.Feast for the eyes, when the monsoons start here these plants really shine! This is Bosenbergia Rotunda, it is a very tiny flower found at the base of the foliage. Also known as "chinese keys"

I love the curcumas and castas well, heck I love them all. The ones I got from you, Lisa, are doing good just no blooms yet.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

which ones did I send you weeds..lol..I don't remember..was it the Elizabeth Hedy.? If so, it should be blooming shortly, mine are full of buds right now

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Yes, that is it...I have mine in sun, is that ok?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Full sun or Med. sun? How does the leaves look? Do they look a little yellow? If so, you might need to move it to an area where it is protected from the evening sun. If everything looks good, then it is happy where it is. If we do decided to go to Port St. Joe, I'll pack you a goody box and bring you more plants.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Oh boy! You just come on over, would love to have you visit, even without the plants! I know you love the Fl panhandle, admit it! I do too!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Lisa, when Meiyu was here we noticed that the Elizabeth in full sun looked bad, but the one in shade looked great, so we figured it didn't like hot sun all day. I should have emailed and asked an expert!(that would be you)
I am blaming my ginger obsession on you!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

My Elizabth looks ok but is probably in too much sun. I just can't move it now. I have one little spot I put my other gingers in that is mostly shade. Will move it as soon as I can. Thanks

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Weeds, It does like some amount of sun...so if you have a spot that gets all morning sun that would be fine.

ginger expert..LOL Suz..I like that title, but not me.. I am learning as I go..I would say that I am sorry for your ginger obsession..but I am trying to pass it off to as many as possible. ;0)

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

ahh Lisa you are over the limit on post. lol just kidding I saw your post about that. Hey you need to put those pics in the database so I can find them. You and Cala are a bad influence on me. I have no clue how to grow these things, info would sure be appreciated.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Mystic, I am with you: no clue how to grow them, but the bulbs I ordered all came up, every single one, and the gingers Lisa gave me and the ones Cala gave me, well , I now have the makings of a ginger bed. Will put them in tomorrow, and hope I am not putting them in too much sun. All this new planting room is about to kill me, working all day long getting it ready!

A white costus??? Must add that to my "gotta have" list. Lisa is the bad influence Peggy, she keeps showing me all the ones I don't have and I am trying to be good and not buy any plants right now!

Gilmer, TX

Love that Thai Beauty. It's going on my want list!!!

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Gingers are a whole new world for me, my goodness, I have never seen the likes of your pictures, Lisa.

Floridian sent me a couple of rhizomes? last fall and one of them is just barely growing, the other has a node right below soil level but no green growth. I have kept them in my greenhouse, thinking they might want the heat more than outside.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Lisa, Do you know if the Curcuma Violet hardy in zone 8.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Lisa they are all beautiful I wish they where blooming when we where there. Roz I know the feeling I still have not got all my stuff planted and soon it will time for to start digging things up to over winter. lol Susie I don't think you need any help with plant addictions. lol
