is anyone collecting seeds yet?????
the only ones I have collected sofar are from my Columbines :)
So far I have been collecting - coreopsis, marigolds (yellow & orange), blanket flower, and zinnias :)
just columbines and cerinthe so far :O)
Calendula - everywhere - and sweet peas. Today, while I was getting lunch, I picked up a few pods of very dark purple sweet peas along the way ... :o) I've certainly become a seed-a-holic.
Walking iris/Fortnight lily also. Picked some in the parking lot at work and brought them home - my gf loves those things, so we'll grow one ...
:o) Judith
Oh - and I forgot - CA Poppies ... there were tons in the front yard of our new house. P picked a bunch of pods and laid them out to dry ...
:o) Judith
Butterflygal-must have the same tastes!!
I've collected Coreopsis (early sunrise), blanket flower (goblin), marigold (not sure of the mix), portulca/moss rose and just got some pinchusion/scabiosa yesterday. Lupines have drying seed pods right now...any day. False indigo is full of pods but it will be late summer before they're ready to come off.
dianthus is ready now in area 5b
Hmmm ... my dianthus are just begining to flower.
Columbines so far. Some are still blooming.
my sweet williams are ready too :)
I've started collecting purple hyacinth bean, coreopsis, and red hot poker.
add broom to my list too. thanks everyone this has really helped to see which ones i need to keep an eye out for.i hope someone else can use this info like me thanks again moretz
I'm collecting impatiens seed and zinnia so far, snapdragons aren't ready yet
btailor--i'd like to trade for some zinnia seeds if you want. I have moss rose, blanket flower, coreopsis so far.
Sounds great Olathe, I don't have a lot yet, maybe closer to fall ,I'll have more types too.Keep in touch!
Collecting columbine seeds and anemone sylvestris. Most plants are just blooming here in Wisc., so no seed heads yet.
Oh yes, have tons of a white daisy. It gets to be a nusiance if you don't dead head it.
Looking also for seeds of different species of Jap. anemones and Formosan lilies.
Thanks, Maxine
Datura and Datura and Datura - I think the plants are turning into monsters. I have started to lock the door at night so they can't come in and get me. Great bounty of seeds! Anyone want any? :)
Alliums - both Gladiator and Globemaster. Not sure if I have the patience to sow and grow them - vs. buying bulbs. Of course I'll have to try and sow some, but as always the case with seeds - more than I can ever hope to grow.
Also I collected zinnas, marigolds, carnations, yes yes yes I want some! I've collected two types of columbine, Corespis, Hostas make seeds to dont they?
Thanks Lori

Hyssop, chives, lamb's ear, Lychnis chalcedonica and L. coronaria, Columbine, and Viola coreana so far.
Terry, Where abouts is the seed on your Lamb's ear?? I have a few that need collecting. The flower stalks?? Kinda a dumb question I know. I'm guessing that they are under the spent blooms right????
Have gathered lots of seeds from my Alaska Nasturtiums. And I have seed pots galore on double purple daturas, annual red poppies and scarlett runner beans.
I collected seed from "catchfly" today and I'm waiting for the Painted Daisy seeds to dry a little more but they fall when touched but they are light green. I'm not sure when they are ready.
Maxine, I have a question. How do you collect the anemone sylvestris seed? It's just a cottony white thing. I don't see the seed. What am I suppose to look for?
add hollyhocks, malva, blue shrimp plant and eyball plant to my list moretz
Molly, they're on the flower stalks (that escaped my spring pruning! ;o)
Once they start to turn tan and dry, I can get the seeds out. But it's rather painstaking (or maybe I'm just doing it the hard way), as I have to more or less open each husk to let the seeds escape. So far, I've collected a good ounce or so, and hope to have enough to trade them here and offer them through FHE (along with several other seeds.)
I wish I had found Dave's a month earlier and I would have been seed savey. I just kept what I needed of islandic poppies, larkspurs, and flax. Mostly I just fling em around the garden for next year. I will know better next year.
I have canterbury bells for the first time. I wish I had marked the plants by color while they still had flowers-live and learn. How do I know when to harvest seed? The pods seem to be staying green forever.
I forgot. I do have love-in-a-mist if anyone wants any.

So far I've collected seeds from my Scented Stock, Bells of Ireland, Salvia fulgens, Yellow 4 o'clocks, and ONE from my Blue Shrimp. I'm hoping I'll have Balsam soon and I'm looking for seeds on my Snapdragons.
Oooh trillium_girl ~ I've been trying to find some painted daisy seeds. Is there anything I could trade you for some?
Cajun2, Can I possibly make a trade with ya?? I'd really like to have some Blue Shrimp seeds and Scented Stock.
So far I have collected:
Mixed Columbine(1 trade left)
Money plant
Rose Campion
Candy Tuft(1)
Larkspur mixed
Yarrow white
Indian blanket
Plains Coreopsis
Lanceleaf Coreopsis
Mollybee.... in looking at your pictures, what I'd REALLY like is some seeds from your Dame's Rocket! I was also drooling at your toad lily & tiger lily!! What would you want to have a bulbil (?) of each of those along with Dame's Rocket seeds?
Mind looking at my list on GardenWeb?
http://members.gardenweb.com/members/exch/cajun2
This page stays updated ~ I just have too much on my plate to maintain 3 separate lists ; )
You have mail Carole!
Add to my list of seeds collected:
. White Yarrow (TY Moretz!)
. Bi-colored Zinnia
. Sweet Banana Pepper
Coming soon: Balsam, Red Castor Bean, Catnip, Horsemint (I hope), Salvia Blue Bedder (I hope!), and Salvia 'St. John's Fire' (ditto).
If anyone has suggestions on my Salvias, I'd really appreciate it. I love these and want to not only share with others, but also have them again next spring.
Also having a hard time finding any seeds on Coral Bells, Nicotiana and Batface Cuphea. Suggestions?
Assuming you are talking about Flowering Tabaco aka Nicotiana. I had some last year and at first I was pulling off the spent flowers soon as they were finished. Then after I had gotton lazy and failed to pull some off was when I found the seeds! The seeds were under the spent flowers(all brown and dried up of course) The seeds are VERY tiny!! Kinda like a poppy seed..that small.
Hope this helps.
Sorry I can't help with the others.
cool! yes, that does help though! appreciate that!
I'm waiting to collect snapdragons, foxgloves, they are takeing forever, does purple veronica seed? or lavendula? have zinnas, marigolds. white, yellow yarrow,
Lori
Does sedum seed they have some on top do I take them now?

Ahh yes I was thinking the same thing Carena!?
