Hi Polarbear_77...gosh I have these seeds and have not even started them! I know I do not have that many, as I have shared some with another DG'er after the co-op ended. I was so gung ho at the beginning of the season. I suppose there is still time. Not sure of how many I have, but will certainly save some and share for next season!

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

Thanks Sue! If you get them growing be sure to share some pictures with us :)

Cullman, AL(Zone 7a)

Sue, keep me in mind for next season please!

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Carena and others. Good news. We'll probably have another Japanese MG co-op next year if you're interested. One thing to note - the red moonflowers are actually probably pink and if they're hybrids, can quite know for sure what they'll be next year, which is actually part of the fun!

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

Thats great! Count me in!

Earlier this spring, I got some seeds for a "lavender moonflower". Never grew one before, but is this the same one you're talking about? I was told that it wasn't very easy to find anymore. I've got 5 seeds that have sprouted in my vine garden and seem to be doing well. I'll be happy to send you some seeds when they're ready. But is this also considered a 'red' moonflower too?

Here's another picture of it, from someone else who has posted this to the web somewhere, and called it a lavender moonflower. I hope it's OK to post it. I can't remember where I got it from anymore.

Thats a pretty one!

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

I'm in for next year too, I've got enough to keep me plenty busy this summer anyway!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I forget who posted their Morning Glory finds at the local hardware store, but after I saw their post, I did the same! My hardware store had the Chocolate, the Red Star and other cool Morning Glory and other flower varieties including this Nigra-Hollyhock.

I'll go back and get more if there is interest and they still have them. It was just this past Friday on the way to send some "deno" started black pansies to WaWild1 that I saw them there.

yes, I saw the black pansies too, almost bought them, I did go back for the Nigra Hollyhocks, I'm planning on sowing them this fall. neat stuff, different than the usual common seeds that are everywhere.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Oh, yes, it was you Carena ☺ Thanks for posting again to remind me!

I did go back this afternoon and bought another Red Star MG, the gorgeous Picotee Blue MG & one more Nigra :) So, I've some if anyone is in dire need as I was with the Red Moonflower!

El Sobrante, CA(Zone 9b)

There are red/lav moonflowers on eBay right now - ending tomorrow or the next day. Just noticed it tonight.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I was trying to stay away from Ebay, no hope now, lol. I didn't even know there was a red moonflower!

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

I've never purchased anything from Ebay before, and I'm not even going to look. I only have $1.27 in my checking account so I can't buy !!anything at all!! until payday!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

pooh! i didn't read that crestedchik but you're right, it ought to be a law! i did plant some but don't know if they will grow fast enough to bloom. if they do, i'll post a picture to see what they "really" look like!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I will have tons of seed Susie. It isn't red though. Maybe in different soil it would be. Mine is small flowered, and lavendar with purple stripes and blooms at night. I was sent seeds from someone who got them from the MG co-op.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Just posted before you with a picture....Nope, not red.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

can i be added to the list for some of these seeds if you trade them Brugie? oh i just love purple. if i had my way all the garden would be done in purple but hubby likes other colors. hehe thanks Imzadi good luck to the ones who are trying these.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'll post when I have mature seeds. It will be a while yet, imzadi.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I have looked at the Nursury, WalMart, Lowes as well as my local feed stores. No Moonflower seeds came in this spring and there are still none. Not even a plant, so does anyone out there have enough seeds to share???
Wonder if they do well in South Texas? Had some white years ago and if I remember they did great.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

I think that the one in Jules_jewel's picture is Ipomoea macrorhiza.
I think the purple one with spines, is Ipomoea muricata. It could be possible that the color "red" got mixed, or "lost in translation".

I got "red" moonvine seeds and they were more pink than red. They have spines. I also got one from Larry and it was not spiney. I will look for pictures.I've since pulled the vines up because they were taking over.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It is too bad that it was give the name "red moonflower vine" because they sure aren't red. My seeds came from the co-op last year through a friend who shared. I was hoping for red and really was disappointed.

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

If there's going to be another co-op this spring, I sure want in it! I missed the last two, and there were some fantastic cultivars that came back. Just someone let me know if it comes about!

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

I have lots of the Japanese Red moonflower vine(not red pink with dark throat.)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

I grew these, were supposed to be red moonflower vine, LOL they were pinky in color
