Akatsuki Murasaki

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

This is my first Japanese to bloom. The plant isn`t but 8 inches tall and I was not expecting a bloon any time soon. It had already started wilting when I found it. The vine is just starting to show signs of climbing.

Those are just beautiful. I just love morning glories.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Great shade of blue, wouldn't that be spectacular with Heavenly Blue climbing with it?

This is this morning also.
Akatsuki no Beni

I am always surprised to find such a large bloom on a tiny plant. They haven`t started to climb yet.

awwwww - wishing mine would have flowers. Let me ask you this - when did you first plant your seeds? *trying to gauge how much longer I have to live vicariously through you*

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Sorry, I never wrote it down. I planted them on the next planting date for flowers according to the Almanac. If you know about when you mailed them, it would be the first flower planting date in the Almanac.

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Just checked - yours were mailed 3/22. So really - it's probably less than a couple of months. Which would be end of July for me. That's not too bad, this year is going so fast - and I know they go bonkers when the weather gets hot. Still hasn't gotten hot here yet.

Thank you again for all of the photos - it's great to enjoy a preview of what I'll hopefully enjoy this summer.

Hope the rest of your weekend is great - ours is, not surprisingly, chilly and rainy again.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

That would be April 8th. That is the next planting date from Mar 22nd.
We are having gorgeous weather here. It is almost too hot.

busybee,
This is my first try at Japanese MG. I also have Mt.Fugi-like your pink and the dk blue wagonwheel. Will the seeds be the same as the flower that made them? I'm sure they are a hybrid. My hybrid passionvines make sterile seed or seed that reverts to the parents.

Hello Flicker, It is so nice to talk to you. Actually we do not live that far apart. I will be looking forward to meeting you. This is also my first time to plant them. These are from the Morning Glory Co Op that sbarr did. She collected the seed and divided them among us.I plan on saving some seed so I will know next year. Perhaps someone else can answer your question. So glad you joined us here at Dave`s. I know you will really enjoy it.
