This huge vine is starting to bloom now :) I've got 2 bird nests in it already this year.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

i hope that the ones i planted last year will grow up to be like this.

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

so how many vines did you have to plant together to get it that full

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

Other people have asked that...lol...and I swear, this is only 1 vine. I promise. Here's a full view from last summer, in June. I don't know what makes it grow so well, but it's truly a monster. AND...I DO NOT cut it back. I trim it to keep it where I want it, but that's all.

Wow, the Jackmanii really looks great against the red brick. I hope mine gets that big some day!

Double WOW, That is really one plant??? I remember this pic from last year, but thought it was 2 or 3 plants. It's beautiful

I promise it's only 1 :) This is the base of the plant as it appeared about 1 month ago.

I remember seeing this before, and being so impressed. It looks so fantastic!

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I remember the old picture. You have planted so close to the wall. Is it safe for the wall's foundation?

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

Yes, it's a relatively small vine. It's too small to hurt anything such as poured concrete.

Muskegon, MI(Zone 6a)

Have you ever taken cuttings from that terrific vine?

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

Never tried it. I really haven't tried doing cuttings at all...growing them I mean. Maybe I should learn some day.

Gorgeous! What do you have for it to climb on? It appears to be working it's way around the window and such, but I don't see any supports for it to climb on? Does it just attach itself to the bricks?

I have some clematis coming from the co-op and have been fretting about what I can offer it for climbing without putting holes in the new siding.

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

This is what I used for support....plastic anchors in the bricks with long galvanized screws and wire wrapped around the screws so the vine can twist around the wire.

Maybe you can find some kind of cips or something at the hardware store that would hook under the siding without having to make holes? I'm not sure. Or maybe you can attach something way at the top, under the soffit and hang down heavy duty fishing string with knots in it to climb on? Just a few ideas. I'm sure there has to be SOME way you can do it there without putting holes in the wall.

Clematis is what I call a 'twister'. It doesn't attach itself to anything...it will only twist or wrap itself around something it finds nearby to climb on...like a morning glory does.

Thanks for the info hczone6. I'll check with DH and see if there would be a way to hook something under the soffit. I've been thinking about those clips that you use to hang christmas lights, wondering if there would be a way to make those work. Then I could string light wire or something to the ground and run the light wire horizontally across the vertical wires to make sort of an invisible trellis. I'm still thinking here.

Zone 6, OH(Zone 6a)

That sounds like a good idea...the invisible trellis
