I had to go to the ER the other morning at 3am i just couldnt take the pain any more and when the doc looked in my ear he said oh what a mess!!! he ordered demerol and some numbing meds for my ear-neither worked they had to give me more pain medicine and then meds for nausea and then an IV with antibiotics!!! My ear has never hurt like that before and out of nowhere!!!! I stayed in bed sleeping for 2days and my ear was drainning but now is plugged again! I hate allergies and sinus infections!!! I feel so weak right now!! dang it!
I think i will go south next spring till everything has budded!
been sick!!!!
Sorry NM, that must have been terrible - hope it clears up for you soon. We have our share of allergies down here too - pollen from everything keeps the old sinus messed up. We had a pollen count of over 4,000 not long ago. finally the rain has cleared most of it away for now tho.
Dori, I hope you have a speedy recovery. It must be just awful.
Hope you get to feeling better real soon and back to your ole self.
For people you have allgeries; try drinking Aloe Vera Juice.
Can be purchased at Sams Warehouse and other places I'm sure, but just don't know where. It isn't the best tasting stuff but if you drink a glass in the morning and a glass in the evening, you will be surprised how much better you will feel within a day or two.
coco, I will look for some, because my daughter has bad allergies.
Sorry you've been sick, Dori! Those sinus-turned-ear-infections are no fun. Glad to hear you're on meds and am praying you recover quickly, sweetie. The tar and feathers will keep...
;)
Lord child..that sounds awful...Nothing worse than ear pain. Sure hope you get to feeling better real soon. You're welcome to come on down next spring but Azalea is right...it's not much better here. The yellow stuff from the pine trees coats everything and turns it yellow, including your lungs too I think. Take care!
Ouch! My sinuses were like that throughout my childhood. Moving from moist Louisiana to Texas, a bit less humid, helped a little, and I finally got them cleared out after a few years and numerous kinds of antibiotics. But my poor DD still suffers terribly, and nothing has really been effective. I will tell her about the aloe, she might not have tried that. Hope you feel better soon.
Oh Dori, I am so sorry that you are having this problem. I hope it gets better real soon.
Love ya girlfriend!
Sympathy on the ear infection! I know how bad it hurts from personal experience. Now I run to the Dr. the minute I start feeling clogged sinuses. Figure I lost half my hearing as well as part of my vocal chords to infections a few years back and I am not taking any chances again!
Feels like there's a little man inside your head, kicking the inside of your eardrum with all his might, doesn't it?
LOL GW, the real pain is when he puts that foot clear through the eardrum and air reaches the infected area inside! Before that there usually is just a feeling of slight pressure. But that little guy is wiacious with steel toed boots!
I was wondering where you had been!! So sorry to hear you have been sick. What a bummer. Hope you get to feeling better real soon. Just ain't DG without cha.
Sending well wishes your way now.
Hope that you feel better soon. Sinus-ARGH!! I use accupressure points, the water wash (neti pot) through the sinus-works, but hurts like the devil for a couple of minutes and I do not even use the salts, also use meds. I have been lucky, it has never gotten to my ear. I heard from one chiropractor a year ago, about sinus infections being fungus--now the medical lab tests have proved him right. I may tough it out and add the special salts to the warm water, I am a wuss, but do want to keep it at low level. Sending you hugs to get better.
Dori, sorry to hear you are sick and hope you feel much better soon.
I agree with Marcia Geiger. Try acupressure or,
if you have an acupuncturist in your area, try that.
Years ago, after having an ear infection (that would not give up!), and being on antibiotics for months,
I had acupuncture. It didn't hurt, and best of all, it worked!
Hang in there, Dori.
Melissa
Dori, I am sorry you are having such a rough time of it. I hope that you are beginning to feel better now. I know how you feel as I have lots of problems with allergies and my ears. Actually mold and all the pollen in the air are a disaster for me and I probably shouldn't even be a gardener. That is about like telling an alcoholic to willingly give up booze and expecting them to do it cold turkey. I am afraid I am a gardener no matter what the physical consequences.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts n prayers! Im going to the dr today-I cant take this feeling in my ear-plugged!!! Its throwing my balance and hearing off. I have to much to do to be like this!! OH BOTHER!!!!!!!!!
i will let you all(ya'll)know what the doc says!
Waiting to hear what the Dr had to say Dori. I sure do wish you'd get better, you are just too spunkie to be down and out like this.
Get better sooon girlfriend!!
they put me on one of those methylprednisolone dose pack said i have lots of fluid in my ear-go figure! I wanted them to get it out and right NOW. oh well its a start!
dont worry molly it cant keep me down, just trip me up! :)
The prednisolone, a form of cortisone, should dry out your ear and reduce the swelling. The fluid might not be in a place where the doctor can remove it without risk of damage to the ear. Use the medication regularly, as the benefits of steroids build up over time. I hope that you will experience relief very, very soon! Thank you for this update -- keep us posted!
Dori, still keeping you in my prayers. I hope you start to feel better real soon.
Hugs,
Joan
I am praying for you Dori. Just be sure to eat right and take your vitamins. Part of it happens (as a result of sinus and/or head colds when your defenses are low.)
I have my appt on Friday. This is third time I have had so I am able to relate to your misery.
PLUS you really caint hear.....
Hugs, Lavanda
I went to see Dori this afternoon after her drs. appt. She is still as spunky as ever!!!! We walked all around her gardens, looking at beautiful tulips, daffs, delphiniums, bleeding hearts, wisteria vines, berry patches, fruit trees, back to the flower gardens and everything...Oh and lest we forget about the greenhouse!!!!WONDERFUL, JUST WONDERFUL, full of transplants and babies all ready to out into the world! Also baby elizabeth came to visit, what a sweetie, adorable baby, and i got to hold her!!! I also saw the blue garden Dori made for lil Elizabeth. Dori sent me home with a boxful of strawberry & raspberry plants, dahlia and cannas, lynchnis(tiny),bronze fennel, coleus,Texas star hibbe, perennial sweet pea, baloon flower, money plant, and two tubers???AND a big hug :)
Tootsie, what a lovely visit. I hope someday to get to see her garden. I have seen the pictures that she has put on the internet and everything is so beautiful. Doesn't she have just the most lovely disposition and spirit? If I ever grow up I want to be just like her!!!!!!
tootsie sounds like you had a fun time with Dori, and hopefully kept her from thinking of that fluid in her ear.

Joan
Elizabeth is a little doll! Aren't grandkids just the most wonderful little darlings? Yes Dori, I am like Peter Pan in the respect of growing up. I don't think it will ever happen and I truly hope not. Yeah, I do have spunk but after one gets older it is probably viewed by others as my being a cantancerous old bitty. LOL!
Oh, look at that face...look at that adorable face. Come here let me pinch those cheeks.
Feel better Miss Dori.....!!!!!
meds all gone-ear still plugged! calling tomorrow!
******SIGH*************
Doris, when you go back insist they do a culture so they can prescribe the perfect antibiotic this time. I lost half my hearing from an ear infection that did not respond to the normal antibiotics such as penicillon, ampicillon and tetracycline. They finally did the culture and prescribed an antibiotic that kicked it out almost over night. But by that time my eardrum had ruptured numerous times and severe damage was done.
Bummer, Dori! I remember having to go through two or three antibiotics for a bad sinus infection one year, so I know your frustration. Praying you get the right medication and you feel much better soon.
You just come to Alabama wiht me in November (I will be in Vassar for Thanksgiving) and then I will take you back in April or May..lOL!!
Dori I've missed this!! Sorry you are going through such a miserable time of it. Elizabeth is precious, just a little darling!!
