I am so thrilled!!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Look what I got today! my very own Rothkirch! I sure hope I do not kill it! It has 5 sideshoots started! I can see cuttings in its near future! LOL. I wonder how soon I can cut them and try to root them. I was told it would flower quickly........... now I will really need help in figuring out which brugs to pollinate!
It is so much bigger than I thought I would get. I was prepared to receive a tiny cutting. I can't decide if I should keep it inside for a few days or if it would be happier outside.

Great news Kell. I can just imagine how thrilled you were when you received it. Can't wait to see it grow and bloom for you.

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

Kell, wow! Such a fine and very big plant? It looks real fine and remember what Kristi said about not being over-cautious with it. I had one last year thanks to a good friend, but as it was in heavier soil that the soil I was used to, I think that I was too cautioous caring for it and that I got too generous watering it. sniff :` I have kicked my own behind real many time for that ever since. Not so much, that it was RK, but because I felt it was a very special gift.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Congrats Kell. Since it didn't come to me, it found the 2nd best home. lol

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Kell, Where did you get yours from. I was just notified that mine is coming from Native Habitat. I am hoping that they send me a nice one.

Patricia

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

Patrica, it sounds cool that you have one coming. After the pictures I have seen here it is an aurea that is really something to look forward to. I have ordered it too, but from Gommer in the Netherlands and it will arrive very soon with a couple of other deep pink ones and ten other nice selections. Soon we will all have our GH`s and gardens full of Brugs and that is nice to think about :)

FSH, TX

Congratulations indeed Kell. I imagine you'll have 100 more emails begging for pollen and seeds from this one. Please do tell me you plan on hybridizing with her. I can't wait to see what you chose to use on her for pollen. I'm still holding out on Ludger creating an aurea that is 100% pure and has a better blooming and darker pink habit than the former. Of course an easier to root hybrid that was also a first year bloomer would be most excellent as well.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Patricia, I got mine from NH also. Lee, I think his name is, talked in length to me and I wish I could have recorded all he said. Sometimes when you know little, it is hard to connect the dots when someone who knows lots is talking to you and assumes you have a clue. My ego did not allow me to disabuse him of that notion. LOL. Now Tonny would have talked for 6 hours to him and they both would have come away with lots of new information.

Evidently ours is directly from a wild one found that he received and has all pink genes so its offspring should be mostly pink depending of course with what you x it with. but since it has no white genes it really is a plus in breeding pink ones. I could be totally wrong here and may have misunderstood him, but that is what I gleaned from our conversation. The pollen on this one is going to be golden! And he said it is very floriferous and will be blooming soon!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

That there is a fine looking frosty pink you got there Kell!

It will do great in that pepto garden!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL CC......it it flowers frosty I will kill myself! LOL

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

*lol* Kell. I am sure that Lee would have caused me a bit of confusion too. He know a lot more than I about Brugs, but I would have loved to hear him tell about his experiences. *lol* Can I take this as a hint also to keep my posts less complicate *grin*

CC, I thought at first that you had written pepino a kind of Nightshade plant with potatolike leaves and smaller, melon-like fruits. Its called Mini-melon tree here. I grew one three years ago, but it turned out to be a magnet for spidermites and whiteflies.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

No hints from me Tonny! I aspire to be elevated to the level of your knowledge, never that you come down to mine. I admit it may never work, but it does not hurt to keep trying. LOL! I figure if I read enough of the serious hybridizers posts some may just rub off on me! We can always hope!

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

Congrats Kell! I was away last night and now today there are so many new messages on the board! It's going to take me ages to catch up on all! :o(

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The heck with an email....would you put me on your list for pollen Kell? LOL!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You are on the list for a cutting Brugie............

watch me kill it!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Don't kill it Kell. If you treat it like you do all your other brugs it will be just fine. I find when I give more attention to one, it will be the one that dies. I was so tempted to bring in the seedlings of one of my crosses because of the wind and decided that they better learn right now to handle it, so they are being a big shredded out there today, but they will be strong in the end.

Forgot to say Thank You!! I would love to have a cutting when it is big enough to get one.

Kell, my dear..............I am an excellent "babysitter", so if you ever have to leave it home alone....give me a call.

"eyes"

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Kell, I'm just dying to see a picture of it's first bloom!

Brugie, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with winds that tear my poor brugs to shreads!! I've been thinking of planting a 3/4 circle of trees and putting a brug garden inside of it...wonder if that would work?

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

My Rothkirch finally arrived. I have it potted under the patio cover. I am worried because it is suppose to get down to 39 degree's a couple nights. I think maybe I should bring it inside. Does anyone know if this one is affected adversly by the cold. I did bring my double peach in because it didn't seem to like the cold nights.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Patricia, I have mine inside still! It has been so stormy here. It is doing great. It looks so happy. It is the prettiest green. I was just admiring it today.

I almost went to the plant swap.......but just could not get away. Did you get tons of great things? I had lots of brug cuttings to bring and a few gallon cans in flower to bring. Oh well..........is it only once a year? how was it?
