tiG, if u have oriental stores around u, check them out! i know they do keep a good stock on those lucky bamboo and the money tree. i just luck out when i went to Chinatown last year. i got 2 and gave u the other one. the one i kept is about 1' tall. allow them to dry up, betw. watering. those two plants are very forgiving. they do not require too much attention.

Cool ways they have the bamboo used. I've never seen a money tree before. Learning more every day MaVie. Thanks!

thinking about doing something else with it, we don't have any oriental stores withing 50 miles, thanks:)
I think of you every time I look at it.

money tree and lucky bamboo are also available @ Walmart. i've seen those delicate and braided ones of both plant being sold at Walmart's nursery area. i suggested the oriental stores cause some do sell them at very reasonable priced. i have seen a 5' braided money tree at Walmart, some small ones too. i never bothered check the price cause i know i can't afford them. i will check thou, next time i go.

it is always a pleasure to share info i find :)!

if u got some 99 cents store around that are managed by chinese vendors, they also sell both plants.

If you use water from a city water supply it has small amounts of Chlorine in it. Some plants, like some peoples skin are sensitive. Since the Lucky Bamboo sits in it, without the filter of soil I think it is more affected then most plants. So, let your water stand over night before adding it to the bamboo.

These must be very popular and big sellers. I have been at Target for almost a year and while other plants come and go, this one stays readily in supply. Most of the time it is three sprigs in different types of vases, some with the expanding jelly stuff and some with glass pebbles. They are always $4-7. Just throwing that in, in case anyone else wants some. :)

I never thought of the expanding jelly stuff. My daughter gave me more Lucky bamboo and it seems to be doing well. I still don/t know what I did wrong before; maybe it was just time for it to die.

Hi Roz! Oddly enough I was at a nursery a few months ago and asked about that jelly stuff and they said I could not grow the lucky bamboo in that. That is about all it comes in now at Target! LOL Who'da thunk it??? :)
