San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Little, pale, red headed ones Bruno? Maybe they are all Irish as they all like a pint at the local pub! LOL

Hello Gardeners,
I am very new to dave's garden and I am learning so many good things about gardening. I am so exicited reading about the Brugsmansias. I have one that I purchased last year but it looks like it might not come back.I live in zone 7 and the winter has been brutal here. Can anyone tell me how to over winter them here in the northeast? After viewing all of the different ones here I am amazed at all of the colors. They are all so gorgeous! Is it best to plant them in the ground or to put them in containers? I can truly understand why the Brugs are loved so much! Thanks for all and any information. LOL

Welcome Dancinglady! I understand that many in the colder parts will dig their plant out and store it in a cool basement in a semidormant state........... it drops most of its leaves but it will survive. Others just take cuttings in late summer or fall and grow new plants from those. Others have big, grand greenhouses and grow their brugs all winter and post incredible pictures and are the envy of the rest of us...........LOL

There is always much discussion on what everyone is doing starting late summer. Seedlings are the talk of the town right now.

Welcome Dancinglady. You will surely be dancing when you get some of the other colors of brugs. Good luck with your yellow one and keep us posted on how it grows and blooms. We all love to look at our friend's pictures.

OK...now I know I am hooked. I have been out of town since last week and I couldn't wait to get back and read the threads on Dave's Garden.

Kell, I've just noticed your reply now! LOL
Little, pale, red heads are becomeing much rarer here(No offense)! But both slugs and going for pints are still very common i'm afraid! LOL

Welcome TxFive :) Where good folks are good folks are coming *lol* So are you about to develop a habit for Brugs also?

Albany, GA(Zone 8a)

Yes...I am developing an addiction. I didn't realize there were so many others fascinated with brugs. Gardening is my stress releaser...and unless I get a little crazy with plant purchases, Gardening is cheaper than therapy...hahahaha.

Welcom Txfive and DancingLady, I'm pretty new to DG and Brugs also. I have only 2 varieties so far, Shredded White and Charles Grimaldi. I ordered Pink Beauty from Logees and it should arrive today. Being in Zone 5 or6 (depending on the winter) I have to take cuttings in the fall and keep in greenhouse over winter. One of my Charles Grimaldi in a 1 gal pot has buds. You will learn a lot from the great people in DG. Donna

TxFive and DancingLady:

Welcome! I am relatively new to the wonderful world of Brugmansias also. My addiction is about five months old and I'm still loving it! I've learned so much from the wonderful "family" here at Dave's Garden and the two of you will also.
