Do you think I can winter sow 4 o-clocks here in zone 5?? Has anyone done it and had success?
4 o-clocks?
poppysue, I have seen volunteers coming up in the spring, so seems like a good indicator. This year I tried saving some of the tubers/roots, haven't checked them lately, they are in storage in a brown paper bag. John
Sue,
I'm in zone 5, too, and I planted 4 O'Clocks the first year we moved here (16 years ago) and I have a bed full every summer. They just keep reseeding, so I would think that winter sowing would be just fine.

When should I sow the seeds if I want to see flowers this Summer? I also have got one tuber, when could I plant it?
Thanks ya'll. I don't recall them ever re-seeding here... but maybe I never gave them a chance to. I'll give them a try and see how it goes.
Evert - I think you plant them directly in the ground in spring and still get blooms. Usually I try to start them 4 or 5 weeks before the last frost date indoors.
