Is this the right forum?

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I would like to obtain 3 or more native American Persimmon trees, a couple Sassafras trees, and some native wild American Plum trees, Does anyone have any of these they would be willing to let go of? In return I have quite a few native elderberry starts, a few domestic black berries starts, and some daylily starts. I'll know a lot more when spring actually gets here.
Thanks in advance, EvaMae

You might want to e/mail JCF(Janet) about the Sassafras trees, She had some offered not too long ago. She "might" have some left for postage.

leaflady, My sis-in-law orders trees from the state (of MO). I'm pretty sure that sasafrass is offered. We ordered native plum this year, haven't gotten them yet of course. The state offers quite a few native tree varieties. If you're interested, I'll try to get an address or something for you.

How do I get some info on whether what I have is "native wild American Plum trees"? I am quite sure what I have is wild as they are smaller plums and have very "bramlbly and thorny" branches. How can I find out if they are what you want and how to propagate them? They must sucker up as they are all in a group and I don't think it would hurt them one bit to be "thinned" a little bit if they are what you want ...

Snorb59, it sounds as tho that is what they are. Are the fruit red with gold tinges and somewhat tart until totally red ripe? Or are they solid purple? If purple they are damsons which I would also like to have. Go ahead and plan to send me some when the timing is right in your area. I'll send you back postage. Thanks.
