I had talked about this particular Angel Datura last Fall, christmascactus. Is this possibly what you were thinking? I think I still have seeds for an SASE. eMail for addy if you are interested :)

Well, I can't post a picture right now since I'm getting an error. Will try later after I send an email to Dave about this problem.

Hey Root,

Do your triple look like these, too? Just curious if we are talking about the same species....

Regards...

if you guys have any more, I would love a few. I don't need many :o)

LMK

I don't get online very much though so give me time if I don't respond right away :o)

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Flowox, just email me for my addy and send along an SASE. I'll get them to you. PLEASE remind me in the SASE what I am to send you. My mind fails at times :)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Morph,I sure hope that is what mine look like,Nice Pic!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks, Root! I picked these up at a local farmer's nursery. I had no idea they would be so beautiful as the plant marker was pretty generic! I'm hoping the seeds will germinate this year :)

When are you going to start yours? Do you think now is too soon? I'm so anxious to start growing, but I don't want to start too early either.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I got some soil today, after seeing the one that twinlakeschef has about to bloom. If you start this early plan on having enough pot for them so they don't get root bound and stunted.I was at HD today and found some window planters on sale for 2 bucks, they are 4 ft long and 6inches deep,I may try them for some.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks. 6" deep doesn't sound like much to me. BUT mine were planted in the garden last year so I've no idea how deep their roots were. I did give them several special waterings throughout the summer of a "seaweed" mixture I bought at the nursery. I think they really liked that.

Do you have a link to twinlakeschef thread about this?

Thanks, Root! LOL, too. Sometimes I read or hear things differently than how they were intended! Guess it's age or our lovely language :) Or, perhaps, a combination...

Regardless, I appreciate the link. Wishing you a plentiful season of growth!

No, I did not, but I was looking for it.

Root, I'll try to remember to send some along with the Purple Majesty so you can compare what you already have :) I'll be anxious to see pictures of both when they bloom!

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

I am new here, but very interested if anyone has any of those seed to share for sase. Thanks.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Morph, do you still have these.........I kinda lost track of this thread (easy to do when you only get on once in awhile)......let me know if I can still send SASE

How's the min pin doing? I posted for you in that forum too :o)

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I have just a few left. They are about 50% on germination. But, when they do germinate, they do well :) I've been growing them in the paper towel (moistened) and then transferring them to seedling soil. I can't guarantee your success with the few I have, but email me and I'll send you my addy for an SASE... This is for both OhioBreezy & flowox.

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

I planted these and have a bunch up and growing nicely. How long will they be before bloom? Will they bloom this season? I am going to prick them out this week and transfer to 4 inch pots. Do they transplant easily? Any information on these would be greatly appreciated. Joann

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Lenjo, I think they will bloom for you this season. They are generally considered annuals I believe. Please, anyone jump in here. I saved my seeds so I could grow these again this year. Last year, they were just gorgeous!

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Lenjo: Datura are grown as annuals. They will bloom this summer. They start to bloom here zone 5 about August. Problably earlier for you. When transplanting, try not to disturb the roots, take as much dirt with them as possible, if not sometimes it stunts the growth.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Flowox, did you ever get any of these seeds? If not, I was thinking I could bring a small plant this weekend (if I make it to Columbus) that has already sprouted for me. It is doing well and you could have the plant already on its way without the stress of the seeds germinating. It's only about 2" high right now, but very strong!

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

If anybody needs any seeds, I have several left on the attached datura http://www.parkseed.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10066&langId=-1&mainPage=prod2working&ItemId=0359&FromTextSearch=datura

All of mine germinated, and I hate to see my remaining seeds go to waste. Nat

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Nathalyn, did you harvest these from your plant(s) last year or are they seeds directly purchased? I ask because I'm curious as to why mine that I harvested are so picky about germinating. Thanks :)

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

No, my seeds are some that I purchased. I haven't tried to sow seeds that I have harvested. I had the white Datura and wanted some of the double purple, so I just ordered them from Parks. I'll save some seed from this year's purple and see if I have problems with them germinating. You got me curious now....Nat

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

I had one last year, and forgot all about a seed pod that I had picked and stuck on a windowsill, just found it the other day, kinda moldy but I'll look at it tonight and see if any seeds look viable. I remember this plant was kinda stinky!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

That's ironic, Nat, since the ones that I harvested are from the triple purple I bought locally last year and those are the ones close to what you ordered from Parks. I wish I would have known cuz then I could have saved you some money!

Maybe it's the variety or maybe it's the second time around that makes the germination not as high? It will interesting to see.

Good luck, Carena with yours!!! I think it was Rootdoctor who told me to be VERY PATIENT with the germination. His advice was very good since they did take their good ol' time in ever showing me that they intended to be born! Now, though, they are thriving as young seedlings. I hope they transplant successfully when the time comes in our zone (May 10, I think).

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I did use a heat mat to germinate my seeds, as I had read that they needed warmth to germinate. Mine were up in about 6 or 7 days. I have 6 inch plants under grow lights waiting for it to turn warm enough to put outside.

Yep, I had ordered my seed for this year before my addiction to DG. Too late for this year, but there's always later........smile.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Glad you found your way to DGs & a belated welcome to you! Saw your post in the Roundup forum. Hope to meet you this Fall :)

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

I'll try a few, if they germinate, I'll share the rest! they just might be okay, we had a pretty mild winter.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Morph,
Yes, I have to admit my subscription to DG was well worth the money. It's a great place to gain knowledge as well as to share what you know. And DG keeps me from dragging my poor husband around in the evening to look at my plants. I hope to make it to the Roundup in Ky. - - will have to start thinking about what can be divided or started from seed so that I will have plants to share! Nat

Waterford, ON(Zone 6a)

Hi:

I am new to daturas. The triple purple is breathtaking!
Would there be a few seeds left? I don't know about sending a SASE from Canada, but I could trade some seeds.

Thank you,
onca156

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Onca, I have given all of mine away as of yesterday. Nathalyn mentioned above that SHE still has some. You might try clicking on HER name and sending HER an email to ask?

Onca, I'll check to see if I have enough seeds to divide between 2 people. Someone else has already requested some seeds. Nat (the girl)

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm sorry Nat! I knew that and was just in a hurry! My apologies!!!

Waterford, ON(Zone 6a)

Thank you Nathalyn!

No problem Morph - - - all the more reason to go to a roundup where we can meet eye to eye. You got to admit, there aren't many Nathalyn's around( my dad's name is Nathaniel - - I was supposed to have been a boy).

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I have some of these from Windsurffer. I need to plant them -- any tips? I'm planting them in some Sta-Green potting soil which has a slow-release fertilizer and water-retaining crystals in it. I've started other seeds in it with great success, but have never grown datura.
