I know all of you home owners know what I'm talking about!
I'll only get into some of it right now or this will be a REALLY lengthy post.
Thank goodness we don't actually own the house yet & have the help of the current owner to solve the problems.
The house was owned by a third party for 3 yrs (under land contract). He basicaly neglected it as far as we can see.
It's a great place & has lots of potential. (Read that lots of work!)
Since we've moved in (Dec 20) the Septic has frozen twice, and the heat has gone 2X also. Problem with septic is that it's new and loose ground cover. No snow here yet for insulation. 3ft of frost.
The homeowner & I decided it was time to call in the pro's. We have a ground water heat pump that hasn't been working well since we moved in (never over 60f).
When I got home thursday @ noon it was 40f in the house and the pipes were freezing. (The new septic froze too)
I just want to be able to live in a 70f house! I told the heating guy to fix it "properly".
67f now, I hope it gets warmer, I'm going to his bosses house for the Superbowl!
The Money Pit
Your septic system is freezing? You need to eat more Tabasco sauce lol.
I was in WI once (Eau Claire) in the summer on business. At lunch our hosts offered the info that it sometimes reached -60 there in winter but he thought it "keeps the riff-raff out". I told him I resented being called riff-raff but I was still not moving to WI.
seroiusly though, houses become homes only with lots of TLC and even more hard work.
kikisdad: Thanks, I'm not afraid of the work! I've been reading up on electricity because that's the one thing that I'm afraid of working on. I'm sure I'll get knocked on my can a few times before I learn enough!
I'm just a little eager to get started on some projects so I can get the waterbed set up and we can be comfortable. We're sleeping on twin bed mattresses on the floor 'til then. I know, welcome to home ownership, it never ends!
Looks like the weather will co-operate for the next week. Warmer & we may get some snow. I could use some snow to bring the frost level up to a more normal level.
It's been an interesting month!
