Madison, WI(Zone 5a)

Exactly how does the round robin work? Thanks. Genevieve

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

OH PLEASE, let me join!! I am Queen Of Dirtland, and my kingdom has seeds to share, and needs seeds. I think I understand how it works. I will be on a list of names and will receive the "box". After taking out a number of seed pkts, I will put back same number or more and send the "box" on to the next person. Am I right?. Where, and to whom do I send my address? Thank you so much. SEEYA

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

nigellagal look above on jan. 26th under jcf and you will see the explanation of how this works.

tailnum, marydoats, carena, nigellagal, and loudigger i need your ady's. and welcome aboard all of you.

at this rate this may be the bigger rr yet at daves. anyone know how big the biggest was.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

No, not yet, Janet! But, I'm sure we'll get some numbers about how big we've had before. This is getting quite large & that makes it more fun!!! Lavanada, if you're at the bottom of the list for your group, people won't be able to choose your seeds from the RR envelope ~ except for our gracious hostess and the newbies that is. Just thought I'd mention that.

Also, thanks Lavanda for the separate post on the Cacti. I'm going to go search for that now :)

Belvidere, IL(Zone 5a)

I would love to be involved in this if I not to late. Nancy

Madison, WI(Zone 5a)

jcf, you have mail

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Yay, count me in.

Alas, I'm only interested in receiving legume seeds.

But I have 63 varieties of rare heirloom tomato seeds - grown just last year. To give back!

JOHN YEOMAN

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

OH, JCF, can I please be in John's group???? Pretty please!!! Just be sure to put him ahead of me, 'kay? LOL!

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Hoh!

I promise to send you my rarest, loveliest tomatoes!

All I want back is heirloom, lovely legumes... (I'm just funny, that way.)

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

i checked at the post office and we are not allowed to trade seeds back and forth with the uk. sorry john but i am not willing to chance a huge fine to sneak them. you and others may trade between yourselves if you like. janet

Richland Center, WI(Zone 4a)

Hi jcf if I'm not to late to reply I would love to go this round. Let me know, Thanks!

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Oh dear, I think there's a massive misunderstanding here.

Anyone in the US (or anywhere in the world) is legally permitted to mail seeds into the UK or Europe.

No question about that.

You will NOT incur a massive fine. I receive seeds all the time from my friends in the US (and elsewhere). The British post office couldn't care less. We have NO phytosanitation laws in Europe, which prevent the import of small quantities of gardening seed.

True, if I mailed you seed, to the US, I might be - theoretically - in breach of phytosanitation laws.

However, virtually no amateur seed imports to the US have - in my frequent personal experience - yet been stopped. And the worst you could suffer, I understand, is that the incoming package is confiscated.

Brook ran a wonderful thread on this topic early last year, which details his own experiences. (Find it by doing a search here for 'Brook' or, better, 'phytosanitation'.)

I greatly respect your reservations (nobody wants to be hit by a big fine). But I think you'll find, they're entirely groundless.

So... let the Round Robins roll!

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

I hope all understand but I am not willing to take the chance of our round robin being confiscated as it is returned from the uk. I am sure there are round robins sponsored there for members who live their.

Laurel, MD(Zone 7a)

O yippe this will be my first rr and I have a ton of seed as always my eyes are bigger than my garden LOL

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Jcf, Yes, I understand - you do have that broader responsibility, on behalf of all participants.

Thanks for raising that good point.
