how do i start these. for some reason i have never had luck germnating them.

Just file one side of the seed until you see a white spot. Then soak them in water, changed daily until you see sprouts. Then you can pot them up. :) Good luck.

i guess i did it wrong last yr but i just soaked them 24hrs then potted up and kept the soil wet moist and they came up just fine

There is no right or wrong, so long as you get them to grow! :) You can soak them til they swell then pot them too. LOL I am thrilled right now with the eight out of nine lotus seeds I just sprouted!!! I need MORE!!!!

I am in GA also and I don't have to do anything to them..Just plant outside and let nature do it in our zone..They also re-seed freely each year from the plants.
