For my friend Shirley

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Judith......did you sneak out in the middle of the night and snap off a huge piece to share with me?

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

This brug is still in our testing time. Mme Blin has one cutting it is looking ill since summer. Monika has one, it didn´t flower and my small cutting has had one flower. It had some brown patches on one twig I have cut back this twig.
I only wanted to show a nice flower....smile

Well, I loved it, even if it has no name yet. Thank you so much.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Shirley it has a name...
I phoned Monika because of telling it. We can not recommend this plant and we do not want to bring more much trouble in ordering from Europe. We will watch this brug one more year and tell you from time to time.

I sure hope it perks up and becomes a great plant. I love the color of it and the fact that it is double is really appealing. Thanks for letting us know about this one.

Ludger, which one of you created this beauty?

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

None of us
we got this cuttings.
GL

It's very beautiful Ludger. Hope it does well.

Well, OF COURSE, Kell! Duh!

Actually, even in my sleep, I was plotting a sort "It's going to come a hard freeze soon, let me tidy up the garden for you" sort of commando raid, lol!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

After you cut off the twig did you dose the plant with anything?

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

No Liz
I did not dose anything. Mme Blin and Monika are doing the same:
NOTHING. Yust cut back and watch.

It would not be a test if I would help ( dosing ) any chemicals to this brug.

Killing spider mites or something else is okey to all brugs.

Other ( "may be " ) illness you have to watch without dosing. Not all people can get the same chemicals.

Lol: I have a boarder line syndrom...can´t translate all the chemicals and illnesses I do know in german words.

Please forgive me,smile.

We will watch this brug and tell you, is it ok to you?

OK by me - you're right.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Ludger, will keep my fingers crossed it is not sick. It really is a beautiful flower and I hope it will stay healthy.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

I hope it does well, Ludger, it's so pretty. Does the second skirt ever drop down, or does it stay up inside the first one? I like it this way, too, it looks like it's puckered up to give you a kiss!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That is the trouble with real beauties..........they can be temperamental, difficult to please, and high maintenance. I try to remember this when I look at all my Frosties! I also remind my husband of this frequently! LOL

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

When I visited Mme Blin, she showed me her plant. It showed all sympthoms of stem rot (Stängelbrand)a disease which cannot be cured. Mme Blin threw it awaya afterwards, she does not have the disease in her collection. To see it on this plant was quite a shock for me. Since then I keep a close eye on my plant. It is not Ludgers nor or my hybrid. I didnt want it at all, because its Origin is suceptible of diseases and I have my own pink double. Just had it in the mail some day and kept it seperate all summer. It didnt grow very well nor flowered for me.

Kell, this disease does not affect all Brugmansia species. Especially yellow Multi hybrids like Charles Grimaldi are very suceptible to it. But by using the same cuttings tools during the yearly pruning in the fall without desinfection in between, however you can infect plants which normally dont get it. Thats the problem in this special case. This hybrids has robust and healthy parents however with the carelessness from the side of the fancier, plants can get sick.

Thank you Monika

It is sad that these things can happen with our brugs, but if we are all careful and do as our teachers say, we should all have very healthy plants.
