Hey Ludger, your beautiful flower brought my friend Roz out of hiding! Hi ROZ!!!
Oh, Ludger......where are you? Haven't you named it yet??
It is a beauty!
Shhhh! Maybe Ludger is sleeping! zzzzzzzz
Poor Ludger ~~ we give him no rest. Lol
Okay, I'm totally fed up---it's time to get a group together to buy a darned phytosanitary certificate and whatever else we'd need to import---I WANT some of these European brugs!!!
Lets go get em,I'll bring the boat and shovel, quick while Ludgers sleeping.
Sorry for not mailing sooner. I was on big birthdayparty tonight....
Itīs not my breeding. I got this cut from someone in germany. The cut has an early flower in GH.
Talk to you soon.
Ludger
phytowhatatery huh? If i can steal one--does that mean we can have brugs like the ludgermeister??? *goes off to look for her flashlight and wall scailing equipment while humming the mission impossible theme.*
MsBatt I am with you. I want some of Monika's brugs.
Ummmm, just wondering.... doesn't the person shipping the Brug material have to get the certificate?
Maybe we can all chip in and send the $$$ for one to them. :))
Isn't the certificate good for one year, or is it just for the shipment?
I think the Phyto is good for one shipment only. Then the question comes up...........my memory is so short....don't the brugs have to be quarantined for a couple of years? Someone will come along and answer this one again.
Yes Shirley. The plants have to be quarantined for two yrs on the persons property and they are inspected during that time.I believe too the Phyto is only good for one shipment.
Thanks Terry. I thought I was on the right track. So ordering as a group would not be the way to go. One person would have to care for them for a couple of years before they could be sent out. Seems like I read that the Phyto is about $30 and the customer does have to pay for it when they purchase the plants/cuttings, whatever they are ordering from overseas and Canada. The Phyto may be less from Canada, but Jeanne or Liz are more up on that than I am. Maybe someone could also answer if there are any other permits that are necessary when ordering from overseas. We might as well cover all of this again. It is easier than trying to find the information in past threads. Thanks.
means we are outa luck? Luckily I am still in the first stages of the brug compulsion disorder, yellow, white and pink. But I must admit, the ones I have seen ludger post are wonderful. I keep showing my husband, but he keeps muttering something about getting me some help while theres still time.
Tell him it is too late Playndirt! When you catch the brug syndrome, it hits hard and is almost always fatal. You are in the initial stage where you want brugs.........any and all. You crave and lust after them, actually dream of them in your sleep. You have fanciful ideation of being a world renown hybridizer. You will know when the disease has progressed to the second stage when you try to have your 1st stage hallucinations become fact and your DH finds brugs in every room of the house. Do not worry, even if he may leave you, we will still be here with you, diseased and brugged beyond caring!

I was thinking there is a charge for each time you are inspected also, during the two years you are growing the quarantined brugs. Would soon add up to be very expensive unless you ordered a large quantity....several different varieties.....at the same time.
here its 25 bucks for each inspection,2 times a year......
ROTF Kell ---It starts out innocently enough--some friend of a friend offers you some unknown single white datura seed to try. Why not you say? But before you know it--your into the hard stuff with street names like "Dr Suess" and 'whiskers" soon you cant afford you brug addiction. it rages out of control. You are forced to beg in public forums, grovel to complete strangers....Then in your desperation you turn to the only thing you can do---you become a brug dealer!!!!! Not a street corner brug dealer---you become an international brug smuggler!!!!! Oh yes Kell, it starts out with a simple envelope of seeds, but where will it end?????????????????????//
What I was thinking of was making a big order of one each of several different hybrids, then shipping them all to someone who has the facilities for quarantining them for the two years. That person would get to keep ALL these plants, but would send cuttings of each of them to everyone in the group once the two years were over. A big undertaking, I agree, but a potentially wise investment for someone wanting to go into---or already running---a nursery business, since they could also propagate the for sale as well.
Last night I dreamed I went to visit a friend out of town, and across her back yard I could see into the courtyard of an apartment complex. Growning in the center was a huge brug, with deep, rich MAROON flowers 2 feet long!
