I have a 5ft Dawn that I want to move to the front yard, now that it has dropped its needles, would this be the time to move it? or should I wait until spring?
Red Dawn
Most trees do fine moved in the fall or the spring. The Dawn Redwood being a decidous tree probably would be better off if you moved it in the fall. This info from my local arborist friend. He also suggested a root inhancer after the transplant. And some compost or mulch around the area of the root ball to help to shield it from the colder temps but be sure that the mulch or compost doesn't touch the trunk of the tree. Good luck. Lani
