Today we had a wonderful, relaxing day! This is the first time I have not had to travel to the inlaws (x2 because they are divorced)for Thanksgiving! We did Thanksgiving with my side of the fam last Sunday.
We decided to just stay home all day and relax.
We watched the Macey's Parade this morning and while I was cooking with the DD, the DH and 3DS played computer games. We ate a spiral honey ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls, uummmm. Then while everyone was napping after dinner, I went out in the yard to get some things cut back and the yard cleaned up after our first real freeze (27F). It was a beautiful day! It got up to 60F. I cut the cannas down to the ground, and added extra mulch to 3 of the beds that only got a small amount last week.
I was just starting to work on the pond when the DH woke up and came out to help. I was fussing about the waterfall that is in the middle of the pond and wanted to get it cleaned up a bit from the debris from the freeze that was slowing the water down. DH got the rubber boots out and we got in there and started cleaning. I was nerveous because we have a resident cottonmouth that lives in that waterfall. THAT is the reason the pond did not get a full cleaning out is fall. When I told him I was scared of the snake, and didn't want to get in, he started tearing the waterfall down. We found the snake and got rid of it so now I can again enjoy my pond. After that ordeal, the boys grabbed their 22's and went out in the back pasture for a little target practice.
While I was cutting back the bananas, I noticed that my largest one had a bloom on it that wasn't open :-(. This is the first time I have had a bloom on one. It almost made me want to cry. I would say that all in all, it as a great day.....except for the banana and the fact that I am going to have to admit that winter is really going to happen :-( I can't wait until spring!!!!!!

I PLANNED a nice relaxing family day, big meal, a couple chores for my visiting big brother. Got a leaky toilet and a rusted-out garbage disposal causing total disruption for the day. Oh well, life is what happens...

At least a store was open where we were able to buy repair parts :)
