Paintedlady has some info on germinating these kind of seeds. I'm gonna try the method she read about. I'll ask her to post it here or if she doesn't mind if I post it.

Cortlandt Manor, NY(Zone 6a)

I think they will probably germinate pretty easily - - I actually read a site that said in Southern states, this plant can actually be somewhat invasive because it grows so easily from seed.

Cortlandt Manor, NY(Zone 6a)

I hope that doesn't scare anyone -- I meant it to be encouraging! :)

Jacksonville, IL(Zone 5a)

Those look really beautiful. I like white anything and I love lilies! I'd sure like to have some. Thanks for the offer. Rose

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

These do naturalize where they want to, just meaning the seeds blow in the wind, so they will come up where you don't plant them. But you can dig the bulb and move them. It seems to take years for there to be a lot of them in one place, so I haven't thought of them as being invasive. Frankly, I don't think I could get too many of these.

Here's info paintedlady found--There doesn't seem to be any great secrets in germinating Lilium
formosanum. Comparing the seed capsules to the ones in my book and your
description, that's what I think they are. The book says you can toss
seeds in with moist vermiculite in a zip lock bag. Within weeks they
should sprout. The sprouts can be picked out and potted about 9 to a
regular square nursery pot (I think they are 4"x4" or so).

Thanks for the info. I can't wait to get started.

cape may court house, NJ(Zone 6a)

Can't trade yet but I'm sure I will be able to soon
Trade for sase's?

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Saya,
Thank you! The seeds arrived in your lovely card. They came Monday or Tuesday.

Yes, Summerwind.

Mailed seeds today to: Tootsie, Dee, Redrose

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

I tried vermiculite in a ziplock bag and it seems to work great. About two weeks ago I tossed one pod worth of seeds in with the vermiculite. I had fluorecent lights going anyway so I put the bag on the middle shelf, that way it gets some bottom heat. When I checked today there are more little sprouts than I can count.
Can't wait to have lots of Lilies blooming .
Thank's Gingerlady.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Great, paintedlady. I'm gonna try it too. I hope all the little seedlings make it. I have no idea if they bloom the first year, but I sure hope they do.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

I came across this thread a little late and am sure you are out of the seeds for this lovely lily, however, if you could put me on a list for next year's crop, I would appreciate it.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Earthling, I still have some. Just send either a $1 and I'll get the envelope and postage or send 60 cents worth of stamps in a padded envelope and I'll reuse it. The small one is big enough (6x8 or something like that).

Old Town (Gainesvill, FL(Zone 8a)

I have sprouts I have sprouts I have sprouts!!! Ginger YAY hahah I didn't plant too many, about 50 or so and so far about 5 sprouts I think I just saw them a few mins ago. I have them in a pie tin (the aluminum foil type) in a proffessional potting mixjust barely covered with soil some aren't covered it seems the ones coming up are the ones that were barely covered. I planted em right after I got em from ya so what maybe 2 weeks to germination. I am so happy! I have them on the kitchen table this is just wonderful now if they bloom first year I'll be in heaven!!! I am going to start some more seeds this coming weekend I think :)

Gingerlily, I would like to try the lily seed. Please e-mail your address if you have any seeds left. Thank you for sharing. God Bless!

Summitville, IN(Zone 5b)

After all the seeds you've sent out, I'm almost afraid to ask! BUT, if you've got any left I'd love to try them here in Indiana. Please let me know.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Yea!!!! Katrina. I haven't gotten around to starting any yet. Good luck with them from now on. Mamajen and michelleR, I still have plenty of pods left. I harvested around a hundred or so. A single pod had hundreds of seeds. I'll email my address to you.

MichelleR, if you still want brug cuttings, send a priority stamp or $3.85 and I'll get some to you. I have you down for Dr. Seuss.

Super! I don't know if these bloom the first year or not. All of them around here have been naturalized for years.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Arlene,
If they look too crowded to you, I would separate them into individual pots. If you don't and they stay overcrowded, I think they will be very leggy and not develop the strong stem they need to stand upright. Just my opinion. I'm guessing, but I think the older the bulb gets, the bigger the plants are. I say this because I have very short ones and then I have some that reach over 6 or 7 feet. These are in an area that naturalized on its own, so I haven't followed them closely.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

On that note will get them transplanted; this is a very shallow container and they probably need more room. They haven't changed much in the last week or two.
thanks, gingerlily!

Here's a photo of my "lawn" of lilies. There are still more coming up every day so I'm not going to transplant them until they quit sprouting.
My book says this lily often blooms the first year from seed. I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to put them all.
Gingerlily, how far apart are your naturalized lilies growing?
Did you ever dig one up to see what size the bulb is, or how deep the bulb grows? My book only talks about propagation.

Painted Lady,
Yours look further along than mine. Do you remember the date you sowed them? Mine are about a month out from sowing. Does anyone have a idea how high they will be the first year. And is anyone sure about the botanical name?

TLC

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm pretty sure they were planted 12/11. The date got cut off the ziplockbag when I decided it needed to be open. Quite a bunch sprouted after 2 weeks, then a few more every day since.
None of the little plants have it's second leaf yet.
I don't know the answer to the rest of the questions, but based on the photo of the lily in the other thread, the description, and the seed pod. I'm sure this is Lilium formosanum

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Mine that I grew from seeds last year didn't bloom. I kept thinking they would. However, I didn't start mind this early. Goodluck with them. Jim

Brooksville, ME(Zone 5a)

I would love to have some of the seeds. How pretty. Everyone is having such great luck with the germination! Sometimes that really gets tricky.

virginia beach, VA(Zone 8a)

gingerlily, do you have any more left?plmk
thanks,cristina

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Yes, I still have plenty.

Most are fairly scattered, but I have seen some side by side. I would think you could plant them 6 to 8 inches apart and be okay. The bulbs vary I guess with age, but they are similar in size to tulip bulbs. But, they do have the scales that fall off quite easily when dug. I have seen some as short as 2 or 3 feet blooming and some not blooming. But they can get as tall as 6 or 7 feet, but I'm guessing that may come with age too (I've never grown any from seed, I just dig up bulbs and move them). I'm not positive about depth, but I think maybe 4 to 6 inches. One day I'll go dig some up and let you know more specifically.

Lilium formosanum was the conclusion some others came to when it was first discussed.

Glad ya'll are having good luck with germination. I guess under perfect conditions they germinate better than left to nature.
