Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

volunteer from thrown down seeds last winter. very much like my spring peach seedling only longer tendrils, very long calyx doesn't show in pics, almost 10 inches. so much fun in the dark when i can't see what i am doing.
had 3 cotylons, or however you spell it, brugman had asked us to track these.

Very pretty, Arlene (o:

How much longer will you have blooms? Does the cold weather hit you before Christmas? It was 60 here today and tomorrow will be nice again. Then, look out.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

hard to say ms brugie, could frost in a week or after christmas. i'm gonna do better protecting this winter for earlier blooms next year. i sure wish i had your soil.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

A good mix of the two would be better for both of us. Mine packs to easily. I'm going to grow most of my brugs in pots next year. Hoping anyway.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Love those long tendrils. Where are 3 cotylons? What are they?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Hibiscus, i didn't spell it right. i think it's when they come up with 3 leaves instead of two, that's what i based it on anyway.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Look at those tendrils. That is really pretty Arlene.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice spurs..Thats what I call them! :-)

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Is this the first night it's opened? It's a lovely shape.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

yes, poppysue, it was yellow and opening during the day, rained most all day. i'm still hoping for color.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Cotyledons is how it is spelled, but don't ask me how to pronounce it........... :-)

Arlene, I remember when you talked about throwing those seeds out. Not only very pretty but obviously very strong. Your garden is still showing you wonderful things and I bet that makes you happy.

Very, very pretty Arlene - what a lucky girl you are being able to drop seeds and they grow so beautifully.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

this pic was from saturday. this is one of the longest lasting flowers i have ever had, still on the plant, starting to fade, it went honey colored after a day or two.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Look at those seed pods!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i am biting my fingers to try to keep from picking my first kyle's pink pod!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, are your Kyles Pink pods super long?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

4-5 of them are, lots are still growing. some are fatter than others, one is curled like a sickle.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I can't believe I missed them all. Wow!!!!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wow Arlene! It looks like you're going to have a few seeds.LOL That is a long time for the flower to last. Hope you're going to keep it.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Yes, it turned colors like milk n honey does, and has only had the one bloom. i'm gonna stick it in a pot and over winter it. medium fragrance. my milk n honey blooms don't last long, any one else have that problem? it's a huge pot and gets more sun. Cala, those are buds on Creamsickle.... and i think a couple of pods on V orange.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I love the huge blooms on Creamsickle. Mine has buds again too.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

you are a busy girl Miss Arlene!! and very productive!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

ms kell, i wish i were productive.... getting better with the naps though. now, are those my special seeds you are getting ready to plant?lol i am going nuts trying not to pick my kyles pink X rosamond. it is getting nasty yellow looking.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

so why not pick it now Arlene??? I thought you pick it when it turns yellowish. Mine are still all very green! I moved my big CG into the hoop house last weekend. Am about to go out and see how they are all faring!! My bird is having a mental breakdown so I have been spending every available moment with him.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Arlene, I'm so proud of you!! Letting that pod get completely ripe before you pick it. I would have ripped it off the plant already(or at least cut a slit in the side to look at the seeds)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

oh my goodness cala, running outside with the razor blade, i forgot about that..............
kell, hope your bird recovers fast!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

take your nu-skin with you!!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i picked the pod. it only had 28 seeds. all nicely ripened.
