Christmas Cookie Exchange??

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Anybody up for a Christmas Cookie or Candy exchange??? I would love to do this, but we need to organize quickly if you're interested!

Sounds like a great idea, but the postage may be cost prohibitive to send so many out. Would a recipe exchange work better maybe? I don't care either way, but it's just a thought that I had.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I think a recipe exchange would work just as well...so, let's get started!! Maybe we could get Trish to incorporate this into the Card exchange.

eyes, I like it! Maybe we could each put our favorite cookie recipe on an index card, to include with the Christmas cards... but what if they are not all bakers...hmmm...probably most are... I like the Christmas Cookie Exchanges where each person makes 12 dozen of one cookie, then all meet for a swap, so each person gets one dozen of each kind. I used to save the 1 lb. coffee tins for that, perfect. But as JoanJ said, postage would probably be too high... John

I guess that's what I get for not reading about the card exchange. I'm not in on it and it's past the deadline. I'm okay with that though. You snooze you lose. LOL! If anyone gets any really good recipes though, will you send them to me?

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Okay, that one did expire for those of us that can't seem to stay on top of things.........But why can't se do a recipe exchange anyway, and anyone interested can let us know by Dec. 5th. Since it will just be the recipes, that will give all the chance to receive the recipes by Dec. 15th in time to make dozens and dozens of delectable goodies.

eyes, since I missed out on the card exchange (my own fault) I want in on this one....
How are we going to do it????
write out (say 12) index cards with your favorite recipe on it? and send it to 12 people?
I just want to make sure that I have it right...
I have a killer secret recipe for sugar cookie....
i just have to dig it out now

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Yep, I think a minimum of 6 recipes would be a good idea.
What do y'all think?

"eyes"

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

are you saying mail 6 cards each to 12 different people??

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

ahhhhh - ok - I thought one recipe
ok I'm game, but I dont think I'll hand write them then...

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

I myself would like for each person to send their very favorite cookie recipe to each participating member. 1 per each..........but, I'm open for discussion if y'all like another quantity.

"eyes"

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh that's what I was thinking too. That I'm up for.

New York City, NY(Zone 6b)

Let me get this straight...,

We are now NOT exchanging cookies..., but exchanging cookie recipies?

Is that right?

Adam.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

adam, if you've already baked, just send them here for evaluation.

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Hey, don't forget me! I'm already shoveling cookies in my face as I type this!!!!!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Recipes Adam. Cookies could get crushed in shipping!! LOL~

"eyes"

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

We're just doing one recipe then?

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Yep, your personal favorite!

"eyes"

New York City, NY(Zone 6b)

Sigh..., ok.

I can deal with the disappointment. No cookie boxes filling my mailbox.

ONE recipe.

Who is collecting all the addresses, etc?

I figure as the new guy in the box I should defer to an old~timer (old being a relative and not qualitative judgement here).

Maybe I should edit the preceeding sentence and say experienced hand?

Adam.

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Drop and bar cookies travel well! heheheh

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

I guess I'll have to sit this out, I do not bake, but I'm willing to taste test any cookies coming my way. :)

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

How about turning this into a cookies contest, and I'm the official judge? :)

Grandview, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL Tim!

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Well, eyes, if this is a RECIPE exchange and not cookies, I would like to participate. Joann

Cookies crushed in shipping? Here's a wonderful little story.

Not long after we married, my wife had to return to Germany from New Zealand for three months. This left me on my own for Christmas in a foreign (but very friendly)land.

Karen & my new mother~in~law (whom I'd never met), baked a shoewbox full or traditional German Christmas cookes for me and shipped them to New Zealand. Well, I guess they must have been mistaken for the ball in a rugby match, because by the time they arrived I had a box full of crumbs.

Now Christmas in New Zealand is a sub~tropical holiday. One goes down to the beach for a BBQ. And so I joined a party with friends, bringing along my box of magical Christmas crumbs.

After a Christmas feast that couldn't be beat, and putting away enough beers to impress even Wintermoor, I garnished ice cream sundaes liberally with my mangled treats, much to everyone's holiday delight.

Are you SURE you don't wanna send cookes? ;~)

Adam.

With crushed cookies; do you not lose of some of the calories that way?

Is this going to be like a secret recipe exchange?

Shoot, go ahead and put me down. I can add another item to my list of many. We can include more than one recipe if we wish tho, can't we? After all; I can't send just one.

I'm ready to get started.

Yes, CoCo, the effect was marvelously slimming.

I just finished baking about 15 dozen cookies for a bake sale! Count me in on the recipe exchange. Who's taking the addresses?

Michelle
(also known to my family as the cookie queen!)

I just assumed that 'eyes' was going to do it , as she is the one who got us all pumped up about it.
'Eyes', oh 'eyes'; when do we get started on this?

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Okay, I have a thought! How about we start a thread on the RECIPE Forum, and call it Virtual Cookie Exchange (or something) and we'll all just post our favorite Christmas Cookie Recipes there? Then we can print out the thread for a Christmas Cookie Recipe Booklet? What do you all think? John

John, Great idea!
