I had a few, was more interested in other tropicals like gingers and flowering vines and jasmine. I came to DG and OH MY, there were all these beautiful brugs with links to Monikas and other European sites. Now, I gotta have at least one of all. I wonder how many of us can blame this terrible obsession on Dave???
Pre DG, how many had brugs?
I had several before DG but had no idea how many different ones there are. Hope I can get a few more, but I've got to slow down sometime. I can't put the blame on anyone, but without Daves, I sure wouldn't have known what I know now.
Can we blame it on Dave? Whoopee! I've been wondering for over a year who I could blame this addiction on. LOL. When I first discovered DG I remember sitting at my computer and drooling over all the beautiful Brugs. I had never even heard of them before although I had raised Datura previously.I know when I finally got up the nerve to post on the forum I must have sounded awestruck with these plants. A very kind person here e-mailed me and asked if I would like a cutting and I was so excited.(Thank you Arlene.)Before long the generousity of the people that make up this forum added to my growing addiction and this year the beauty of these plants filled my yard.I have watched the Bruggies here turn from hobby backyard gardeners into some very serious Brug growers with expertise put into their hybridizing and growing skills. The knowledge that we have learned from the experts we are lucky enough to have here is priceless. Keep up the good work everyone and long live Dave's Garden. Yup Dave, it's all your fault. LOL
I had just a few cuttings that Shirley had sent me
from a gardenweb posting.
How time flys...when you are having fun.... Have had brugs 4 years.
My very first bloom, back then, thought I'd died and gone to Heaven! Had never seen or smelled anything so beautiful.

I've grown brugs at least 8 years. My first was s.White .. which brought me a best friend along with it ..lol
Still a best friend, too (o:
He sent me 6 cuttings in my freezing February from CA ..and they all grew!
I phoned him when the first bud opened ..I was so excited. He is still teasing ;-)
He said trade those extras from him for other colours (why he sent extras! ). So I did. For CG and s.Pink.
I had it made!
Then I found NHE and bought what the offered. Traded for a few at gardenweb.
Then Dave's Garden brugmansia forum last year .. and everyone here (o:
I bought my first Brug in August, and now I have 3 large plants, several smaller ones, and about 30 cuttings I'm trying to root. I've only just begun to enjoy a few flowers. I'm looking forward to Brugging bigtime in 2003! I'm sure the info posted here at Dave's will make that dream brug bloom become a reality.
smile...
please can anyone explain this thread in a private mail to me?
I do not understand it. But would like to do......
Very much thanks
Greetings Ludger
Ludger, you've got mail. :)
I had a very big bush when I lived in Rialto, California seven years ago. It was a bush because it grew so much, I had to trim it back two or three times a year, just to keep it inside the fence. It was a white single. A friend passed it on to me and white single was all she knew. Everyone here has been so generous with me, sharing their brugs and I appreciate it so very much. Glory sent me cuttings last year and two of them bloomed this year before I brought them inside. This year I have made a lot of generous friends and they have shared with me too. My next goal is doubles. There is just nothing that smells as good as a brug. Thank you, everybody. God Bless!
Janette
Thank you!!!!!!Terry.
Will think about a german replay, will take time..lol
I love this here at DG´s, I´malways feel very very good here.

Well I have only been at it for three years, In a fit of desperation this year after trying to replace everything that froze to death, I e-mailed a lady who had sort of been keeping up with my horrible time trying to buy them. She told me about DG and so next years mowing will be alot easier, thanks Dave! Thanks Snow for helping me find a new home...........
I had a few brugs before joining DG's. My Daddy gave me my first one and I was estatic when it bloomed. My sister bought me two more . . a pink and a pumpkin . . from a nursery of course. A good friend of mine gave me a double white candida. I then decided to find out all that I could about them. I went surfing the web and came across DG's. I had never joined anything on the web before this. It was overwhelming that so many shared so much with me. How can one not become addicted to these beauties and what makes it more exciting is that there is no end in sight. Newer ones are being developed. And I must add the best part of all . . the fabulous people who love to see others enjoy what they have been enjoying for some time. I must not forget the brug experts here that give us guidance and are eager to assist all those that need help or information. Yes, I am ADDICTED and it is the fault of all of you wonderful people!!!!
Well, I had grown a sang, a Frostie(but of course) and a double white for years but I was as enamored with them as I was with all my other trees and plants. Then several years ago when I became an eBay addict I started looking at some and realized there were more out there than the ones I had. About a year ago, I figured out how to do a search on google and saw some incredible brug sites. A GW (and Dave's)person, Judith, introduced me to Cala after I had a heart break with my order from LBJ. (I could taste those fancy Brugs but sure was not allowed to have them) Then I met Brugie, I guess on GW? Remember Brugie? And she told me also to join Dave's. She was very supportive. At first I thought I was too brug ignorant to join after reading all the smart posts but Brugie told me you all were as dumb if not dumber than I was, so hey here I am..................
I had NONE!!! last year in April, I had not one. Came here, found that wonderful plant that I'd seen on my mail route, fell in love, ordered, traded, begged, grew from seed and now I have almost 300 blooming size. Which due to space is getting drastically cut!!! :(
I had a few already, some I bought and some from GW trades but this place really made me brug crazy. I think I have starts of about 20-30 different ones now. Next year is going to be fantastic if they all make it!
Kell sure has a way with words doesn't she???
I also had none! All of your contagious enthusiasm, gorgeous posted pictures, generous traders, rooted cuttings, and growing from seeds has jump started my collection of Brugs.
I forgot to mention, Brugie did tell me that Cala was much smarter than I am, but if I limited my postings to a word or 2 , Cala would never know............... I guess I forgot that advice!!! LOL
I am same with TiG.. I had NONE. AFTer I joined DG over a year, drool over beautiful brugs.. Now I have over 50 of them! Still not enough and want to add some more that are on my wish list. :o)
Too late to sweet talk cala kell. Now we will be known all over the world as the Brug dummies.Don't you feel guilty now?
OK OK OK SO I lied. Brugie really said I was truly the dumbest of all!!
I had seen brugs here in the greenhouses but at over $40 apiece I didn't ever buy one. Last fall a generous DG member sent me three unnamed cuttings and then this spring Cala sent me some cuttings so I got to try to grow them. I found out that next year I will put them out of the wind and into some shade since the only blooms I got were sunburned the first day of bloom. Also it was a yellow one with no fragrance. :
I would have to say that I have to blame DG, I have never had one before coming to this club and thanks to all the wonderful pictures here made me want to try them.
I just had about 4 or 5 of the common hybrids until i joined here! I joined DG solely for the Brugmansia forum and i'm so glad i did! Strange but true: I've never been to any other forums here! :o)
IMHO, Brugmansias.com at DG is the best Brug forum in existance!

I had 0 .... before DG. I can blame it all on Dave!
Bruno, you should at least take a look at the Tropical Forum and Vines and Climbers Forum....you will soon have more and more obsessions!!
I had never even seen a brug until Daves - but Cala got me started and now I have 18 in the basement with about 15 cuttings rooting....more seeds to start and sod to dig :) Man I love this place!
Before DG, never had one, got my first one from tiG, thanks tiG. Only been a member of DG since July of this yr. Before DG only knew brugs as angel trumpets, thought they were pretty but never had one. Now thanks to tiG, Glory, Roz and Frannie, thanks all, I am on my way to brug heaven. Next yr, thanks to these wonderful DG's, I will have the most beautiful and aromatic yard in Montgomery, AL. Also, thanks to all who post on the brug forum, the information gained and pictures are the best. Maybe we should all send Dave a brug, COD of course, as a thank you for creating this addiction. LOL.
Bruno, there are other forums? hehe.. I'm gonna have to explore a little. I joined for brugmansias.com too.
I've had Brugmansias around since 1998, FP, CG, knightii, and a white one. I found my beautiful sanguinea, and I thought I had them all. Joining Daves has helped me realize and come across so many others, I haven't counted recently but I must have 30 seperate varieties! And that's nothing compared to some of you! I also joined daves solely for this forum.
Isn't it amazing what leaving out a couple of words can do to a sentence? It is great seeing how much influence Dave and others have had on getting more people addicted to brugs. Wouldn't change a thing.
I had 4 or 5 ......till I met you guys!
Cala...that would be a very bad idea..LOL..I've already got tropicals comeing out of my ears and i absoloutly love vines and climbers! When it comes to plants, i'm like a kid in a toy store, everything i see i want. And i could talk about plants till the cows come home! I guess that's why i chose the name Mr.Plantaholic!

Before DG, I had NO Brugs! I have grown Datura for probably six years and enjoyed the scent and various flower forms and the huge size of the blooms. The Brugs always seemed somehow unobtainable. Thanks to wonderful friends here, I now have about 35. :) Ain't life grand!!!
When I bought my home in july of 2000 there were 5 versicolor peach in the back yard which grew from the neighbor's on the other side of the fence My neighbor couldn't help me out much in finding more info on brugs and the scearch brought me to DG. The great people on here help me out so much it makes me feel like I'm part of a family.
All I had was Moonflower
I had two brugs before I joined DG. Didn't know their names or anything about them. Just thought they were beautiful. I have what I now know is Dr. Seuss and a peach one that didn't come back after the first winter. But now, thanks to trading and generous sharing people, I have a lot more. Some are just cuttings that are rooting, but oh, next year! DH and I (and everyone who stops at our shop or comes to visit) have just thoroughly enjoyed the ones that have bloomed. I have certainly learned a whole lot here on DG about brugs. I appreciate every bit of that shared knowledge from DG members. The March Florida swap sure gave me a great increase of brugs this year.
I had zero. With a passing of an uncle, mother and my dad being sick all within this year, Dave's and the friends I made on the brug forum and of course the brugs became my therapy and my then obsession. I have many friends here at Dave's to thank for helping me keep my sanity over the past year and sharing their cuttings, plants and seeds with me. I thank Dave for giving us this great place to gather, to meet new friends and to lend support to all when needed. It is a blessing.
I THANK YOU all from the heart!!!
