achimenes

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

These little guys put on quite the show but are dying back now. Since they are little bulbs or corms, what should i do with them> I also wonder if they will be tempted to come back when our cool weather starts soon.w

Dale, many years ago I took care of a ladies flower bed, in it were the deep purple achimenes. (We are zone 9b)Hers were just awesome, waves of color. She left hers in the ground and they came back year after year, and they increased. I don't remember when or if they went dormant, it was so many years ago. To this day, I still kick myself for not getting some little starts from her :-)

I've also heard that it is best to lift them if you live in a cooler climate, store them in peat moss.
