The Leaves..'Maya' vs 'Snowbank'

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Maya is at the left. Snowbank at the right.
Snowbank was developed from Maya. But you can see how the colour 'arranges' in Snowbank.
For those with Snowbank who have't see this pattern yet .. it becomes more and more pronounced as
the plant develops.

Yes I read some where it is called snowbank because the white banks the outer edges of the leaves. Is that true??

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow - there's a lot more white in the leaves. Nice comparison shot.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I really like the leaves on Snowbank.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes, Donna ..that is what I hear, also about the name from the white banks at the edges.
Cala, I really like these leaves, too.
More white comes as more leaves come.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I really like the leaf too. It's very pretty.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

How are all the new Snowbank babies doing out there? It may have been answered in another thread, but is this plant going to require more shade or sun than the normal brug? I can't wait to get mine into a big pot and outside to really grow.

Mine is doing great...got it in a 3-5 gallon size pot..really not sure of the size and it has put on a couple of new leaves.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Mine is doing great, hasn't gotten much bigger but has new leaves.

I LOVE IT

great looking leaves. Reminds me of my hair. Bald in the middle and gray on the sides ♫

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

LOL

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Is Snowbank the white one that Martha Stewart sold at Kmart last year?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

is snow bank a seedling from maya?????

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

its a tetraploid

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

CC, i hate to admit it but i have no idea what that means....

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Mines doing great two. It's grown a couple of new leaves.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Me neither!!!

Dripping Springs, TX

Abutilon--I purchased a snowbank and I got it potted up. Now it has dropped all its leaves and the top is schriveling up. What am I doing wrong? (I stopped singing to it)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I have no clue either...

I think its like ,chemically engineered?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

The link that CC provided makes the leaves look more blue.

TETRAPLOID (or TET):

Having four sets of chromosomes in each cell of the plant

http://davesgarden.com/terms/go/1969/

WOW Roz, Martha Stewert sold brugs at K mart???

Dripping Springs, TX

Just think-- that's twice the NORMAL number of chromosomes-- Oh yikes! genectically enginered brugs... hmmmmm And I'm wondering why it's not growing.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Yep, Martha Stewart pdid sell plants at K mart and still does, I think. Not last spring but year before, k mart carried a varigated brug with a martha Stewart tag, but no name, just white var. brug.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So did you buy it Roz? DO you believe how she did herself in? amazing! I never go to K mart garden shop, maybe I am missing something!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

The thing about this brug is that it did not do well the first year, and when I cut it back and threw it in the woods , it took root and I saw it just the other day, about 4 feet high. Go figure ; no care at all.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL, that is how the brugs grow in the gardens around here. no fertilizer no care and they are huge. Will it die back in your woods Roz fromthe cold? That would be sad after it has done so well on its own.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

It did last year, but came back like my other brugs. I leave mine in the ground.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Desert Rose ..I have no idea.
Maybe watered and then got cool ?

I have not had that happen with any of mine here.
I will replace if it doesn't recover.
Let me know?

Roz,

SnowBank is a pattened brug...it's not the same as V. White from KMart.... as a matter of fact the flower is cream to peachy then on to a golden color...very nice Brug.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mine isn't growing but has a nice umbrella of leaves.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

I wonder if they are going through a little bit of shock. I bet when they settle down and can get outside with regular feedings they take off. I can't wait to see what they do.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The kind of light I have mine under is just light. Not the kind that would promote growth. I really don't want it to get big in the house anyway. Went to the garage to get potatoes today and check seed pods and found a nice bud about 4 inches long on Whiskers. No leaves, just pods and one bud. Pretty funny looking plant.

Edited to correct spelling. No "bugs" now. LOL!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Scared me,thought you found a 4 inch bug....LOL
That would be a mean sucker...

I checked my whiskers too and have a bud
Never seen a brug wanna bloom as much as that one!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Well, I just type to fast and don't go back and check my posts. That would have been some bug, wouldn't it? My typing teacher is probably frowning from her grave right now. I better edit that post, just because I don't want everyone to think that I have huge bugs on my brugs.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Miss Brugie!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, it does make me feel kinda stupid to see spelling errors like that. My brain said bud, but my fingers begged to differ.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Shirley,I knew what you ment as I read on...
I was just teasing you
I type with 2 fingers,and usually need a dictonary....see I can't even spell it...
its been a long day.....

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

You spelled "it" correctly CC. Makes me feel stupid when I look at what I type. Brain doing one thing, fingers, another!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Wow,I keep looking at it and it looked wrong...LOL

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

She's teasing you, you misspelled dictionary, but you spelled the word "it" right.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Slap her fingers with a ruler, ha!
