abbreviation list

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I'd be willing to put together a list of all the currently used abbreviations that we use a lot here. If you list them here, I'll type it up for anyone that wants it.

CG = Charles Grimaldi
DS = Dr Seuss
PB = Pink Beauty
CDW = Candida Double white
CS = Creamsickle
VP = Versicolor Peach
JP = Jean Pasko (didn't Kyle say it's a k?)
IG = Insignis Gold
SG = Solid Gold
BL = Becca Lynn
SW = Sauveolens White (we need a different one for Shredded white, or type it out? )

or should we just always get in the habit of typing single every one out? at least at the beginning of a thread? opinions??

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi tiG, that list would be VERY useful, especially as I am not yet on a first name basis with all of these Brugs. Good idea typing the entire name out at the beginning of a thread, I would imagine there are 'lurkers' here who would appreciate it! My thought on "SW", which has two possibilities: maybe use the capital initials for a cultivar (named hybrid), and lower case for a species...

so:

SW = 'Shredded White'
sw = suaveolens white

The full spelling of the Brug in question at the beginning of the post would also help clarify this.

Just my thoughts... John

tiG . . I think typing the name out at the beginning of a new thread is a good idea. Your list above is very helpful for our current members who do not know abbreviations for brugs, but there will always be new members coming on board and I think typing it out in the beginning of the thread will take care of all future questions. Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Dr. Suess, Jessie Noel, Charles Grimaldi, KBS, Versicolor Peach, Isabella, US Conn. Treasurers, Double Peach, and I'll keep thinking. Thanks tiG. This will be a big help to a lot of people.

Do we write out those with just one name?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the info everyone.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks!! There is still something more I would love, if someone has the time. LOL I'd like to know what type each is, like Arborea, Versicolor, etc. I posted a while back about what can or cannot be crossed and the short answer was 'this type can be crossed with this or not with this', etc., but I don't know which are which. :) I don't want much, huh??

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

BS, I think that's a good request. I'm still confused/still learning about the different types. (no comments about my perpetual state of confusion, lol)

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

That good idea tiG

(Zone 6a)

I would like to see a site where one could type in the name of a brug, such as Jessie Noel, for example....and all available information about it would pop up:) Guess that is asking a lot though:)

I am always interested in it's origin, variety, growth habits, color (using a pic with TRUE color showing), fragrance, etc. etc.

Owen

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

if we keep adding to the database, that can happen.

Wow thanks! This will make it real easy Ma Vie.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

u're welcome Tlynn. i wished i knew more though. hopefully someone can come up with a much better and thorough list.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, that's kindof why we started this thread, hoping to get input from everyone. I doubt there's one person that can name them all!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

MVR, I only came to this thread because I saw your name. Been busy? Moved or moving? I don't dare get into Brugsmania, note spelling, as I can see at a glance I am way outclassed and crowded out before I scratch the surface. Those pink ones almost snagged me, might yet, but I don't plan to try to remember the technical stuff. Ya'll keep good lists, and label anything I beg off of you next year.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Aimée, soon as i get settled down after the move, i can share some with u. i only have a few but they are properly ID'ed. i have some i am presently rooting. lmk.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

You are too kind, MVR, and I am touched once again by your generous heart. We will pursue this further when things settle down for you, but I need to get the chickens in the spring so the grasshoppers won't eat everything. They almost killed the two purple ones Cala gave me.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Great list MVR. I printed it off because some times I have a brain freeze and can't put the abbreviation with a name. You did a good job.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Aimee,if you have a setting hen I'll send you hatching eggs!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Aimee, Let us know in the spring when you're ready for some.We love making new Brug addicts. LOL
MaVie, You did a wonderful job. Thank you.
