oh Dinu, that is so sweet!!! we love you, you know that, right?
Dinu... What a great, inspiring story!
I admit I was a bit perplexed by "missing the wood for the trees" until I translated it into our common "missing the forest for the trees", LOL!
dinu
Im so glad that you are here with us and a part of us!
You are an inspiration to me! I luv your pictures that you share with us! your page is wonderful!
So glad your here! =]
What a great story! Thank you for sharing Dinu.
Thanks for telling your story, the world gets smaller all the time when we see the common "threads" of our lives. If only everyone, everywhere could see such joys and truths together then I guess we would get closer and closer to heaven here on this beautiful flower filled, plant filled planet. God bless you and yours, Dinu.
Dinu, what a great story. Thanks for sharing it.
I have followed your threads closely, your trecks to different parts of India, where I would most likely never go. I've enjoyed seeing the photos of your house and garden, the various flowers, the zoo etc.
thanks for being a part of "our" garden community!

"eyes"
Beautifful spoken Dinu. Sure glad your curiosity lead you to us!
"My enthusiasm is the plant, DG is water and manure, DG-friends are sunlight and my curiosity is the digging tool. Let our world be green, without envy!" How beautiful, Dinu!!! That needs to be on the front page that new unsubscribed people get to when they first come to www.davesgarden.com ~ the "saying of the day" in the newsletter atleast!
Dinu, That is the most moving story I have read on Dave's Garden! you are an excellent writer, as well as gardener. I would also like to take a tour of your home...I think it is lovely. What is in the rooms in the top right hand corner of the picture...with the highest roof? Jo
Never imagined it would touch so many of you. It has resulted in a ball in my throat! I'll be away from the puter till the 24th. I'll be leaving for Lucknow which is 2400 kms away. Going there to represent our cricket team. I'll visit here again in the afternoon for a while.
RR, those rooms are empty, not in full use. There are 3 rooms there. I wanted to make a little museum of my own, but Vitamin F (finance!) prevents me from doing this adventure.
Dinu...I think that is world wide...the lack of Vitiman F...I know it keeps me from doing a lot of things I would like to do. And if I were to begin my life over...I would love to study arcitecture...thus the interest in houses...especially older ones. That's why I love San Francisco...so many different types of homes to look at. Jo
love it! Vitamin F!!!!
good luck in the tournament!!
That certainly came from the heart Dinu. Your stories and experiences have been an inspiration to me and I look forward to hearing many more.
Candee
Good luck, Dinu!!! I hope you come back victors!
(Yeah, I have a vitamin F deficiency, too! he-he-HA!)
Dinu, what a nice story. that's written so beautiful.
love your big house :)
vitamin F!!! thats one to remember *LOL*
I also suffer of vitamin F deficency (giggle giggle)
Friends, I'm on my way to Lucknow and replying to this from my friend's place in Bangalore. Because I have to change trains here. I will be reaching there in 36 hours. A journey means Vitamin F gets receding. But fortunately for this journey for Cricket, our office pays for me. Will be back on 24th.
Good Luck to your team, Dinu!!! TAke care! Love & Hugs Jo
i just keep taking vitamin P when the vitamin f runs out!
P=plastic! lol
Enjoy your gardening, Dinu...I love that DG!!!!I've never known anyone from India...yet I feel, as the rest of do, know you now..your home is surrounded by nature and all she has to share...what a moving story!! Elaine
I have come back home. All my plants are safe, thanks to my DH and the kids who had watered them.
The purpose of the tour - Cricket - was not acheived because our team lost in the first round. But we did not surrender easily. It was a very close finish. When our team batted first, we were just 44 for 5. The captain was there when I joined. When the inning was complete, we were both unbeaten and the score was 162 for 5. I was 76 and he, 47. We had done well. But when we fielded, we lost the game in the last over. One of their batsmen played a gem of an innings with 75. They won the game in the last over. I was too tired from the effort of batting and so was not my own self when i had to bowl. This is what for i am feared most. Better team won.
Sorry to hear your team did not come home the victors but it sounds like you had a great game going anyway! Welcome home!
I'm sorry you didn't win. I do hope that you had a wonderful trip and took some pictures for us!! We missed you as we always do when you have a tournament.
I'm very glad to hear that your dear wife and children took care of your plants for you. We all worry about our plants as much as the family when we leave!
I just found this. Such a wonderful page Dinu. Glad to have you back, sorry you didn't win the match. I enjoy your pictures and posts. I have a friend from India, he loves to come see the Jasmines I have. He brings me odd vegetables!!
For such trips I usually do not take my camera with me because of various risks which I fear. Mine is a bit expensive camera. But I make sure to gather some of the pics that some of our team-mates take with their cameras.
I have dug up this old thread... many new members can also share 'how they came to DG'.
The last thread I posted was before the digital era boom. That camera I refer to was a film camera - it was really expensive. But before I used 10 rolls exposure, it had already become defunct due to the sudden rise of availability of digital cameras!
I return to this thread to let you know that I wrote the story in my blog some time ago I thought it is relevant to share it here. It became a 3-part serial.
Here is the first part:

Second part.

Third part.

There are many more in this blog. Do take a peek.
