PlanterRik,the chances are excellent but we won't know for sure until Dee gets well.
Look at it this way. There are already about 20 interested people on this thread plus the ones that have emailed privately. Most of us are obsessives and will order several each.
Any interest in Musa
Ok, I'm back. Let's see if we can finish this up. We need to decide which ones we would like to order since we have to order 72 of one kind. Looking for suggestions. Mine are
Beccarii 12" SP
Ornata Bronze
Ornata Royal Pink (Large)
Just got their updated list and the Musella Lasiocarpa is no longer available. We can do them all if you want.
im game for whatever you decide!=]
I would really like to add Zabrina too....I like the color in the leaves. Only a suggestion.
Dee, I'll take two of each of whatever ones you decide upon. I prefer the smaller types, but will go with the crowd. Thanks for organizing this one.
Whatever is decided, I would like to have one of each.
I want to get in on this too. All I have is a plain green tall banana. I would love to have some dwarf colorful ones to put on my front porch greenhouse and look at during the winter as they grow. Does anyone have suggestions which of these would be what I am looking for in color variation and dwarf size? The Zebrina and red dwarf sound interesting. Are those on the list? Let me know if I made it in on time. And if so, when do I send my money and where. Thanks Dee, I appreciate you doing this and I hope I can get in on this one. :)
Great! Glad you're better, Dee!
Are we limited to the ornamental list? I have read that there are some beautiful fruiting varieties that are manageable in size, colorful and cold hardy.
I can't get consistent information on M. (accuminata?) zebrina. Some sources say it makes sweet and edible fruit, while some say the fruit is seedy and inedible -- so I don't know if it is considered ornamental or fruiting.
I'm also not sure if it is the same as M. sumatrana and/or rojo. I'm finding sites with separate listings and distinct characteristics for each, and other sites say that they are synonymous.
With all the discussion of zebrina in this thread, is it still out of the running? That is one of the main ones I'm interested in and must decide on regarding this auction purchase.
Of course, I'd be happy trading for them as well.
Like many who have posted here, I'm mainly attracted to those with colorful foliage that are cold hardy and relatively small (for me that means not too big to plant in a container, put in a greenhouse or build a coldframe around). I'll add to that that it would be kinda nice if it produced edible fruit, even if they are few and tiny.

yup...what planter rik said...me too......
Dee,
2 of each, unless you only order 3 or so kinds then I will take more of each.
Connie
Glad you are feeling better.
Some of the edible bananas are cold hardy to the teens! I'd like some of the edible ones to try ,that red dwarf jamacian is cool and some of the others are too.I'll go along with what ever is decided but I'd be more likley to order more than one of each if I knew I'd be able to eat them.....though I love the zebrina
here's the link of the edibles http://www.alohatropicals.com/MusaBananas_FruitingBananas.html
I am gonna move this over to the co-op page so we can finish. Please go there for posting the order. Thanks so much.
