Any interest in Musa

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Just wanted to find out if there would be any interest in a Musa co-op. This would be the same company that Cala is doing the EE and Ginger with. Just thought I would help her if there is enough interest. Same rules apply, must have 72 of 1 kind. Here is a list of what is available, and they are the ornamental ones.

Musa Beccarii
Beccarii 12" SP
Mannii
Ornata Bronze
Ornata 'Macro'
Ornata Royal Pink
Ornata Royal Pink (Large)
Uranoscopus 'Coccinea'
Musella Lasiocarpa

Here is a link that shows what they look like and what they generally cost.

Hee hee, me too. I have no idea where I'll keep them, but I love Banana trees.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

How much do you think they will be? I would love to get in on this, Dee. Gosh, I do love bananas!

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Roz, they look like they will run a little bit more with shipping, but I wouldn't think more than $2.00 each.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Dee, me too. Hope they don't grow fast over the winter. Not too much room in my house.

Will take two of each if there are enough.

They are so pretty, and the estimated price plus shipping is very reasonable (cheap). What is the coldest temperature that they can withstand? I'll find room for some - one way or the other - so count me in if this is a go.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

ok me too or three or.........!

I really LIKE this one Musa Samatrana (Zebrina)!!!!

Thanks Dee-If im going to heat the GH this year it might as well be FULL! >:-)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That's what I call high pressure sales. I'll take some of whatever you decide on. I'll put them on my website!! DH said he "might" heat the biggest(34X96X14high) greenhouse this winter, woopee!!!

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Oh boy, oh boy, Susie, more stuff. What do we need to do to change his mind from might to will???

NotMartha, glad you saw it my way, hehe. We are still in the 80's during the day and low 70's at night, so I want them to still grow a little more. Will take a picture and post for you when I get home tonight.

Grandview, TX(Zone 7b)

MAN! Between the Gingers, EE's and the Musa's, I will have ALL my Christmas presents taken care of, hehe.

Glory, that's the one most of us call "Red Leaf" banana.
I have some if Dee is running short.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

I want some bananas, yes I do!
Gone2seed, do you know if any of these are hardy in our area?

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

I am interested in the Zabrina also. I love the varigated leaves.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Wow dee i cant wait and the marks on my arm are all gone now! ;]

JT,
Thanks. How's your girls? Did they have a lot of storm damage?

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Glory, the girls and their families came through just fine.
There was some property damage and the Lafayette daughter owns a grocery which lost power for several days so there was a big loss of frozen food and meat but all is covered by insurance.Just a very big mess to clean up.
I will put the Musa Zabrina in the mail next week.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Weeds,They are hardy here as far as I know.Mine are growing in a spot that is protected from north winds. They came back this spring.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Stupid question #1
What will the price on these be?The website shows prices in the 15-30 dollar range. On the other hand someone mentioned 2.00.I can say that will make a big difference in just how greedy I can be.

JT,
Thanks...glad to hear everyone is ok.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

JT, the $2 range. These will be little, like the little yellow flowered ones that Earl was selling.

Tampa, FL(Zone 9b)

I'm new! I would like in on this too! Let me know how to do this... vik

Oakland, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh, dear . . . count me in as well, as long as you can ship to CA. Thanks!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Dee . . count me in.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

I'm new to bananas, so I'm not sure if the proper botanical names for these are listed, but I would definitely be in (for quite a few) if it included Musa zebrina and Red Dwarf.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Dee? Are you there?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Dee was real sick, hope she is better. She may have gone to see her mom too.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Didn't know that, hope she is ok.

Weatherford, TX(Zone 7b)

Dee,Love Banana Trees. All I have are plain old green ones around pool.NEED color! Count me in.Thanks

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

What are the chances this co-op will come through? Can anyone give us an idea?

I'm in the middle of an auction purchase that I could add some banana plants to .... Kinda need to decide pronto. And, of course, if this co-op happens, I'd rather go with that way.
