Surprise buds on my Iris-Is this common in the fall?

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

I am zone 5B; Garden is all cleaned up except for
the parsley still going great. We have had only
one light frost so far. Today sunny, beautiful,
maybe 60 degree for the high.
What a shock! Two of my Iris plants have big fat
buds. My purple iris is about three years old
and the second one (with the fatest buds) is only
one year old.
Should I cover them at night in hopes that they
will open to beautiful flowers?
Thank you

Some of my newer varieties iris are twice bloomers, spring and fall. Nice!

That was the 3 year old purple iris
Now here is the new one year old but don't remember the color. These are the three I planted last year and I think one might have not made it

Pink Horizon,
Going My Way(purple/white)
Snowy Wonderland (white)

Out of the three, only one puny bloom and it was maybe
white with a little yellow-disappointing.

Hibiscus, my favorite flower!
Should I cover it at night?

If I cut the buds and bring them in and put in water, will they still bloom? It is supposed to get really cold here in the next few days.

If there is some color showing, they should open indoors in water. Hope you get to see them bloom! John

Now I'm drooling, P. I will cut them today! Thanks.a

Tuesday Well here it is but doesn't seem too close to other pictures I have seen of Going My Way. There is a
bit of pale lavender on the edges but it is mostly white
with a little yellow. Do you think it was labeled wrong
when I bought it?

My other purple one is starting to unfurl today, so may have a pic by tomorrow!

That's very attractive TLC (did you realise your initials were the same as for tender loving care?)
It may be that flowering this late in the season the flower is not the typical colour, so perhaps wait for next season and see if it's still the same.

Thank you philomel
I have spent most of the last week looking at every re-bloomer I could find to no avail. So guess I will give it a rest and wait for next years blooms.

I did a long search for reblooming iris. I started off with Google and found many places to buy them. However, the prices varied wildly between them, so be careful. I am trying to get the to the point where I can sell a few. I am specializing only in the rebloomers. Not all are reliable unless they get a fairly long, hot summer...

Woodspirit,
In Iowa we had an unusually hot summer; maybe that is why
my iris rebloomed.
My experience with this one has got me thinking it would be nice to have more rebloomers.
