Bulbs: Surprise buds on my Iris-Is this common in the fall?, 1 by TwinLakesChef

What a shock! Two of my Iris plants have big fat
buds. My purple iris is about three years old
and the second one (with the fatest buds) is only
one year old.
Should I cover them at night in hopes that they
will open to beautiful flowers?
