I just received an email from Lee at NH thanking me for the info on Whiskers.
Cala....are you going to start selling brugs on line? Tell me more.
NativeHabitat
I thought whiskers was white.
I just got an email from them also that says:
Rothkirch is on a paid waiting list. Do you want on this list or do you want to check back later? We have 5 ready & they have been spoken for for 6 months! Next ones should be ready in Spring....
eel
nativehabitat.com
so it is paid, you pay and wait!!
So how much does it cost to wait? Hope it's not by the month - lolol! Is anyone here on the list now?
Is it a verified RK? I remember someone saying that not all German websites sell the right RK, but maybe roter kornett, - I don`t quite remember, Sorry! I looked for the post, but couldn`t find it. I wish, that we could stuff Monika into Ludgers magical car to visit NHE to verify its the right one.
Well, yess! After a better research I finally found the post:

NHE recieved their Rothkirch from Hodniks if memory serves me correctly.
Ah, how this takes me back to the good old days when I believed that everything I received from a retailer was what they said it was.
I ordered Rothkirch from Hodnik's. Twice. What's the saying? Fool me once, shame on you- fool me twice, shame on me? Well, the first died without me seeing leaves, the second, is barely surviving - but has hairy leaves. Monika says glossy. Live and learn (and pay big dollars getting it here)
Monika sounds like the only reliable brug seller anywhere.
Does anyone know of anyone who has the real one in NA? Or does it not exist here?
And I wonder if it is worth it after you get it? It could be so fussy and bloom stingey! Like the HG, I thought it was all that and heaven too until I got on here and so many had tossed it due to poor performance.
Well Kellybelle, I want, I need, I have to have. At least with Hodniks because they take VISA, when the plants croak I still have the Airmiles. You can rack up a bunch of travel points on these orders, especially when they calculate the phyto, postage, shipping and handling. LOL(head hung low)
so are you pronouncing that belly or bell??
Kell, if you find the real Rothkirch, I'll call you anything you like.
Knock yourself out there, Liz................. LOL..........I would want a bit more than that........I answer to anything.............. but Kelleybelly is a bit too close to the truth.............LOL
You won't hear it from me Kellbingle (saw Christmas decorations today). But get to work on the Rothkirch.
Bingle? LOL I hate to tell you what I immediately thought of then........... LOL
So Kelllll - How much does it cost for the privledge to be on the waiting list?
Kell - White Christmas - Bing Crosby - der Bingle. - I wrap to it every Christmas.
der bingle???? do you listen to it in french or is that german??
poppiesue............... I htink they meant you have to pay for it immediately and then you get put on their waiting list. Usually the reputable places charge your credit card when they mail the order not when ordered.
Oooo - that's a little different. I'd imagine that it has to be air-layered and that will take some time.
Should we take up a collection and put Kelly(what rhymes with Kelly besides belly and smelly?)on the list?
no, she's in CA and that could be a problem shipping. I think we should take up a collection and let you get it.
Kellyjelly sounds good to me!
Well Kelley is already on the list so there!!! LOL
And Hibiscus you have obviously seen my Kelley belly which quakes like jelly.................
Don't tell anybody, but that is ME!
hmmm.. i got on the waiting list for Rothkirch at NH. Is what you guys are saying that I may be on the waiting list for a plant that isn't even the real Rothkirch? It's troubling to think we may be paying $30 + postage for something named wrong.
Gnomey,
Sorry, it wasn`t my meaning to sound discouraging. Its just the fact, that there are so many misnamed EU Brugs in the US, but I don`t meand to jump to conclusions, that it is not the real RK. I am just sceptical, where NHE got their RK from. If it was mported from Germany or The Netherlands, there are mre than a handfull, that sell RK, but only one or two of them have the real plant. If you go and see Monikas threads you will find several photos of the real McCoy and what it is supposed to be like. There are descriptions of the leaves and growth habit somewhere around too.
Can I insert a stupid newbie question??? Is Frosty Pink Insignis or not?? Or is it just a named Insignis?
I had the same question...I thought it was suavenolens
It is x insignis. I thought it was suaveolens too. :)
Here is Kyle Courtneys story on the plant. Enjoy! :)

Now I don't know if there is anyone here from North Carolina but I received an email from a man in Nova Scotia who swears he has Rothkirch - the real Rothkirch. He says he got it two years ago in NC.
Whew! Thanks Tonny! I thought they were two different plants. LOL I think Cala explained the difference in the flowers to me. I don't think they are serious Brug heads, but Vic and Shoe are in North Carolina and I know there are more.
I'm in South Carolina Liz.. did he say where in NC?
I'll see if he'll tell me. Sometimes people like to protect their sources for one reason or another.
Badseed, I thought, that I had it all made out about the differences between suaveolens and x insignis. That was until I tried to explain Lene and gave her examples from the garden. The more I explained and the more different flowering plants we passed, the more confused I became. *LOL* Now I have to rely on either Cala or Eric to help me understand. :)
