My sister just went to the grand canary islands and brought me back a pack of acer maple seeds. (6) How do I plant?? Can I start them inside and winter over with lights?? any one know where i can go??

Hi Happyoma, Acer seeds need a warm moist period followed by a cold one. I would start them now, then sow them outside for the winter and they will come up in the spring. Here is a link for a seed germination database. http://www.backyardgardener.com/tm.html

I have planted plenty of silver red and other maples. It is a no brainer. Remove the dead carcass around the seed, and put the seed in dirt, about 1/4" deep, and keep watered. I was under the impression that acer needed stratification and scarification, none of them are required. Good luck.
