x flava Mobisu

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Mobisu is the only hybrid of the sanguinea group in my collection. I like the rich yellow/apricot/rose color and the fine sweet fragrance. On hot summer days, the color is only yellow and the flowers dont last very long. The color comes back as soon as it cools off a little.

Monika, this is the one you said was heat tolerant, right? someday i'll figure out how to get one of those to try!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I love this one. Is it more heat tolerant than most of the sangs?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

It is very heat tolerant. This summer was the hottest one, since I had brugs. The tree stood sunny from morning until evening. The leaves were just as wilted during middays as of the other brugs too, but buds kept coming and it flowered.

Monika,
When you first joined and I saw your webpage this is the one that I loved the most. I'm just fascinated by it, its breathtaking. Will you have cuttings of Mobisu and other brugs available in euro currency soon? Please let me know...

Monika, this is one of my favorites as you already know. Just stunning.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Its still standing in the alley and loaded with blooms. It will be hard to prune Mobisu. 16 Trees are already digged out and I made many cuttings.

Sure hope that the snow doesn't come on Monday. You must be exhausted digging up all those plants. Take care of yourself.

(Kyle) checking..... another have to get plant..... :-)

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Very beautiful.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, I can't think of another word to add. This is a real beauty. I tried to grow sanguineas this year, but they just didn't like the heat or me, I don't know which. Guess I'll stick to what I'm used to, but I do love the color of this one for sure.

Kyle, just watch me do a "Pink Panther" maneuvre through Monika's place...oops a lil branch broke off...putting a piece in pocket and continuing on my way....LOL...

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

hi everyone!! i'm still trying to get my body all nailed and stapled back in place and don't have much energy, but i really missed everyone...hope you're all doing well!!!

tell me...did my brugs die or did they go dormant during the freeze? also, just before the freezing temps came, we had a huge wind storm and it looked like edward scissorhands came to visit my garden and decided to cut up all my brugs...is there a way to plant things around them to protect them from the wind this year (if they come back), and does anyone have suggestions?

hopefully it won't be another 3 months for me to have the energy to come back to dgs...but i'm starting to cramp up now, but i wanted to tell everyone how much i miss you all.

and monika, i miss your pictures!!! we almost decided on a vacation your way over the summer, until my daughter found out the norweigan star does a 7 day hawaiian island cruise in the summer (the only ship, i think), so we'll be going there...but one of these days...one of these days!!!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Welcome back meiyu! We missed you, take care.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Liz! It's good to be back...hope I can start visiting regularly again now, cuz I've really missed all of you, too!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Really welcome back! so sorry to hear you were sick. Hope you get to 100% well soon!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Glad you're feeling better meiyu. Welcome back.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Get well again, meiyu. I didnt know, you were sick. January was a very busy month for me. The time has been short to visit daves. Right know, I am overworking my homepage, there are a few mistakes and a new side will be added.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Very pretty Monika, so this one is more heat tolerant. Do you think it would survive summers with 90+ temps in the summer. I am sorry I don't know how to convert the temps.

Welcome back meiyu! I hope that you will recover very soon and get all your energy back.

Mobisu will be wonderful to ad to Rich Sanders sanguinea project.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Meiyu! Great to see you posting!!
This Brug is gorgeous! Reminds me of fireworks. Awesome!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

meiyu, 90F equals 32°C. Last summer, the highest tmperatures were 37°C (98F),several weeks between 32 and 35°C. It didnt drop its buds, the flowers just didnt have color. They were only yellow and didnt last long.

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

That's amazing Monika. I can't even imagine this. Such a strong sanguinea-form, at 32' and more. That is the 'ideal' brug.

Monika, I have 2 seedlings up of the Mobisu x arborea. Hope they're as gorgeous as this photo.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Mobisus mother is B. arborea 'Engelsglöckchen'. Keep my fingers crossed that you will get more seedlings and hopefully, beautiful flowering hybrids

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Jeanne, I am happy for you. Hope you will get some beauties.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Beautiful brug Monika.

Jeanne, you lucky girl! Keep growing, maybe someday, we can trade with Canada.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Wow, Monika, I didn't know that temp could affect the color like that. I didn't have any problems during the summer months, but the wind-storms tore my brugs to shreads, then the freeze knocked them cold...gosh they look terrible in the winter...like a garden ghost town. They are all sprouting back to life now, though!!!

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Gosh, almost forgot...HI TONNY, BADSEED, LUDGER, EVERYONE!!! I'm so tired right now, I'm having trouble typing, but gosh, I haven't written with any of you in a while, so I wanted to make sure I said hello and let you know I've missed you guys!!!! Gotta let my meds take over so I don't cramp up and can come back more frequently!! Nite!!

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

Meiyu...i'm sorry to say that our kind and generous Tonny has left us! He withdrew his subscriptions and he must now be no longer on-line either because I tried to e-ail him and it came back to me!

I'm not sure exactly what happened but he said something about there being a few very untrustworthy and untruthful people among us and that he no longer wanted anything to do with them!

Unfortunately, It's a huge loss to us and we'll really miss him but i'm sure Tonny will be brialliant whatever he does!

Best wishes!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Bruno - I received an email from him yesterday - his computer crashed and he lost his address book.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

yes, i'd heard that from a new member who phoned me a while back...liz, will you give tonny my email addy? itsallaboutmeiyu@aol.com...i haven't been online much, but i just found out that if i don't check my email within a month's time, it gets erased, so i'm trying to keep up again!!

hope everyone else is doing well!!!
meiyu

We definately need more heat tolerant Brugmansia. I personally let my hybrids go through a freeze and come back before I keep them. Of course this Tx weather in San Antonio mimics Florida weather pretty nicely. I've seen Brugmansia growing at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, the River Walk, and at this nice little house that had a sign outside of it that said taken care of by master gardeners. Wonderful garden that was and I took a slew of pictures of that place even though no Brugmansia were in bloom at the time.
