Impatiens

Avis, PA(Zone 6a)

Ilove having loads of impatiens to plant on my mostly shaded site. Is there anyway for me to save/propagate/overwinter this summers plants so that I don't have to go buy flats of them next summer? I have tried just bringing in pots of them and keeping them over the winter but they always get spindly(even with pinching back) and invariably bite the dust.

I have heard that you can take short cuttings and root them in the house easily. I've never done it tho. Maybe I'll try that this year.

I've rooted some and they root very easily. I took cuttings of mine, dipped them in rooting hormone and potted into containers sealed inside of plastic baggies.
