seeds of globe thistle, echinops bannateus

Weymouth, Dorset, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

I've picked the large spherical seed heads of these plants, and they've dried out, and all the spikey bits have fallen off, but, I can't find the seeds in them. does anyone know of a photo of what the seeds should look like? They were'nt picked until the seed heads were completely brown. the bits that all fell off are like large spikey grass seed heads, but I'm sure that in there somewhere should be a distinguisable seed.

For a lack of any better way to describe them...they're shaped rather like a stubby toothpick
