Bookworm Forum?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Lots of avid readers at DG...Know this from the chatroom. What do ya'll think of a book forum? Good Reads or Bookworm, or something like that?

As long as some plant is mentioned *somewhere* in the text, it'd be fair game. LOL.

O, Webmaster Great, with thine magic mouse clicker, what do thou sayest? :o)

Great idea, GW!

I love the idea of a Bookworm thread. It would be great if DG readers would post the name and author along with a short synopsis of the book. I received The Tulip by Anna Pavord for Mother's Day. I would love to post a synopsis after I finish reading the book. (Of course, that will probably be sometime in October. Gardening takes precedence over reading about gardening!)

I'm all for this GW - again :-)

I think this would be a wonderful idea!

I'd like to tell everyone about the Little Madeleine books, written by Mrs Robert Henrey, around the 1950s. They are autobiographies, and I think anyone who likes gardening would love them, not just because of the gardening in them (of which there is a lot when she tells about the little farm she bought in Normandy), but because of the way they describe the ordinary things in life - food, gardens, dressmaking, the hopes and dreams of an ordinary woman from when she was young right up to when she became a grandmother. They give you a real feeling of how precious everyday life is, and how valuable are our own person experiences, no matter how simple. I don't think you can get them in the shops now, but I got them in the library and reading them was like coming home.
