Forum on 'Frugal Living?'

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Hi everyone.I'm sure that many of you, like myself have to pennypinch in both home and garden.I wonder if anyone would be interested in sharing money saving ideas and tips via a forum? In England we have 'pound shops', equivalent to your dollar stores, and I have found some wonderful things there, for example, rubber, honeycomb doormats, which I put on the patio to stand plantpots on.They lift the pots just enough from the ground so they can drain freely.
Would there be any support for such a forum?

Hi Marigold

I was thinking the same thing myself the other day. I love learning new ways to save $$$. I've learned how to make my own laundry detergent, which is a TERRIFIC moneysaver. It's simple, and best of all, it works!

Count me in!

Count me in - my family tells me I'm cheaper than Ms. Cheap (a local columnist), and their nickname for me is Ms. Cheaper.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

Anyone got a name suggestion for the forum?

I like "Dirt Cheap"...but Dave didn't :)

Need a name!

Trish, I love Dirt Cheap. Guess the webmaster gets the final vote, huh? Darn. Frugal Living is the easy choice, but it has just been done to death......Here are some ideas - don't boo and hiss, just use them to help us eliminate the bad ideas right off the bat. (And please be kind! You know, "if you can't say something nice......" ha ha ha ha )

Back to Basics
Basic Instincts (wasn't that a movie?)
Living Cheaply
Living Cheaply Ever After (heehee)
Living Simply (or Simply Living)
The Frugal Life
The Frugal Home
Our Frugal Nature (groan)
A Penny Saved (had to get a Poor Richard's Almanac quote in here somewhere)

Okay, that's it for my creative brain cells; they're shot. Now you guys know why I majored in Accounting and Finance, and not in Advertising or Marketing, right???? I'm still for Dirt Cheap, but that's just me and my warped sense of humor.

What about 'cheapscapes'?

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

How about "Will Work for Plants"? LOL I would love a frugal living forum. I loved the stuff on Themestream, but they're gone now. :-( Have some great recipes for homemade laundry soap that actually works.

Hi Betty,

I tried to find this by searching (stalking LOL) Naper's other posts, then tried
Google, but all I could find was a book review on Dave's for "Dirt Cheap Gardening."

Would love to visit a dirt cheap forum with you. :-)

Sorry I did not reply sooner ...have been busy and didn't check my Dave's Garden stuff!! I found the "dirt cheap" link also by clicking around and somehow landing on it ...!! I couldn't remember how I got there!! I am such a computer techie (not). lol. It has finally cooled off a bit this morning, actually a lovely breeze. Had bedroom window open for the first time in weeks!! So tired of air conditioned air!! Supposed to be 90 again today, though. It's amazing how fast containers and hanging baskets dry out ...am watering some of them twice a day!! Gardening is not for wimps!! Some of my annuals are just exhausted already!! They think they are in Arizona! Sandy

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)
