They do, but if the mum is a hybrid, you may not get the same type of bloom. Mums are really easy to root from cuttings; in the summer, when you pinch them off to retard bloom until later, take the pinchings and root them. Get lots of plants, all clones that will look like the parent plant, and cover your yard with mums! :o) Here's a couple of good pages regarding propagating mums from cuttings:
