I have had a grouping of Lupines for 3 years, mixed colors. But now they all appear to be a pale, washed-out pink color and none of the purples or blues are around. What caused this? These are perennials so it couldn't be from seeding...........
Lupines changing colors?
Did you let them go to seed? Although they are perennial, they are often shortlived as individual plants, but do a very good job of maintaining the stand by self seeding. the new little plants take a year to bloom. Next year, you could have a completely different batch.
We have the wild lupin here in Nova Scotia, it drifts in all different colours up my driveway and along my road. Really pretty. In about mid June they come out.
