Day Lily Frans Hals

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

The first seed pod opened today, and I got 5 seeds from it.
Is it worth it to save these seeds, or will I get some strange wee day lily type creature from them?

All help is gratefully thanked in advance, before I fight with my life to save these seeds ;-)

All the best

Wintermoor - They won't be true to the parent. You could get lucky and get a spectacular new hybrid ... or they might be compost material. The seeds germinate pretty easily and they aren't hard to grow out. You'll get blooms next year at the earliest but it might be 2 years before you get any blooms. It's sorta fun to see how they turn out but you do need to be patient :o)

Thanks Poppysue,
I am normally patience-in-person, but after hearing that they could either be spectacular or maybe not-so-spectacular (), then I can hardly wait, they are going into the earth 2morrow.

Thanx for the tip.

Lol - it could be the start of an addiction! I have a zillion daylily seed pods ripening now.

It could become an addiction as you say, as I'm an avid bulbil planter from my lilies, and this year 4 blossomed!! TAARAAAA....CHING!!!
I've collected another 16 this year, plus I'll be splitting the bulbs a wee bit, and planting those bits as well ....... Jeeeezzzz I must be crackers!!

*giggling madly*
